IC pump relay hotwire does not work

I just finished installing a shurflo pump, and I grounded the yellow relay wire, but there is no power being delivered to the pump.

The relay clicks when grounded, but there's still no power at the pump!

If I put 12V directly to the orange wire in the relay that leads to the pump, the pump runs, so I know the wiring from the relay to the pump is fine.

Ideas on what is wrong? defective relay?

If I can't solve this I'll just use a new relay and wire directly, but if someone has another idea that would be great.

Go to SyTy Archives.com. Go to how to. Look under engine . This should point you in the right direction.

It seems to be a bad relay.

I swapped relays with one from the drivers side firewall above the brake booster. those relays have the same part numbers... now the pump runs!

Now to find another relay - likely a common GM relay I hope.

To close this thread off - here are the part numbers for the IC relay. It's very common and used for other (mostly GM) applications including AC compressors, fuel pumps, etc.

orig GM #10034222
Kemparts #AR221
Bluestreak RY-27
BWD #R-646 or R-669

I paid $15 for one locally today.

Thanks. This Ty costs $15 per day in misc parts. Does it ever end? (I think I know the answer)
