intake manifold for 4.3

I don't advise it for everyone.

If you want easy, do the stock intake ;)

I like the looks

I like the single round throttle body.

I like the plumbing of the intercooler pipe to the front

I like the idea of using a single gasket at the intake, possibly even the factory Vortec 4.3 gasket (re-useable).

I like the fact that I'd be able to use any set of newer Vortec heads and they'd bolt right up.

I like the fact that the Ramjet intake will line right up with the Vortec heads, no huge mismatch, and the intake runners are large enough to make use of the larger ports. I believe the combination of the large plenum, good size runners, and lack of port mis-match will make for a good performance gain in a Vortec buildup.

Costs? yes it'd be expensive for the average guy, costs would vary. For me? I could get it done fairly cheap. Intake is $350-400 I believe (GM discounted)

Cut & weld the intake- could get done cheap/free from friends/hookups

fuel rails - have a set here, should just have to fabricate mounting to it

throttle body - LS1 throttle body, i have a spare at home

TPS hookup - same 3 wires, just different weatherpack plug, Casper's has an adapter even.

thermostat neck - not a big deal to find a SBC low rise one & custom radiator hose. I may even have a different neck at home.

intercooler pipe - I have had custom ones made, getting a simpler, shorter one made isn't a big deal.

So, I might be able to get it done for $500 total invested (or less), then I could even sell my stock upper & lower intake to further justify that intake.

On the flipside - the stock intake - have to weld it up, have to have it machined, hope you don't have leaks, have to drill & tap the heads (and I'm capt. crossthread - easy to strip some of those holes). So it's not cheap either.

that was what I expected to hear. I also like the intercooling pipe to the front look, much nicer apperance, more room to get to stuff.

would probably flow better than a modified stock lower intake, as well as the injector lined up specifically for the vortec heads, maybe an improvement over how the stock lower intake lines up the injectors.

in your case, to get it all done for around 500 total would easily be worth it.

besides getting the intake cut/welded..... seems only intercooler plumbing and fuel rail mounting would be the most work.

For me it costed alot more then it would cost you guys . My stock setup had some crappy injectors with popped nozzles insode the plastic intake cover so i had to buy regular bosh type injectors $$ , i had to buy an fuel presure regulator cause the stock one was in the injectors pack POS .
The radiator hose routing was an nigthmare for me because of the a/c braket . Lots of other small things .
But you guys already has bosh style injectors , outside style fuel presure regulator , fuel rails are cheap ( 10 bucks per feet i think ) and you can drill the injectors holes yourself easy .
The cutting shouldn't cost much ( around 100 bucks or less ) and welding .
I used epoxy to fill the extra runners and i have heard from diferent people that the epoxy would hold very good .
I think it should cost around 800 bucks complete including machining and welding . I used my stock 4.3L TB which is the same as the LS1 but the trotle link need to be routed diferent . The 4.3L TB you must come with the trottle link from the front . But other then then it is the same .
any more question feel free to ask . :)
