Locals:Best BBQ in KC?

That place we hit up every year for the ribs and stuff is excellant. However,I'm willing to go off the beaten path to get the BEST ribs/sandwich there is to offer in KC.

Considering the fact that KC is ground zero for BBQ in the USA,where is the ultimate place`to get some stupid good stuff? Oh yeah,I like HOT.

Arthur Bryant's, Hayward's pit BBQ, and Fiorella's Jack Stack(95th and Metcalf-a couple miles from the hotel) all have the same problem. According to the websites, they all close at 10 pm. That's about the time the main group left the track last year. Gate's BBQ is open till midnight, at least the downtown location is.

I'm not talking about changing from Gates (I'll still go there with the group) I just want to go to the best BBQ joint in KC sometime over the weekend.

I agree Arthur Bryants is a good one but I really like Famous Dave's which is out by the nascar track and that whole area of the city really kicks ass, They got a Dave and Busters, Yardhouse (largest selection of draft beer in the world), Cabelas, Nebraska furniture mart, an Independant league baseball stadium. Great place to take a family out to in KC. They probably got a famous daves some where close to where you live though bc it is a nationwide chain but i like it.
In KC it is hard to go wrong with a BBQ place

The funniest was when some of the group went to KC masterpiece of all places.
Then ended up MIA, sick with stomach problems the rest of the weekend.

Yeah, lets go to the hometown of all BBQ and go to a freaking franchise thats on every corner...

It's Saturday night(05' Nats) at Gate's BBQ, and I'm sitting in the parking lot trying to decide if I should take my camcorder into the restaurant. I didn't, and now the image of Renz riding a horse in the lobby is only a memory. I keep wondering if I would have handed him a '40' before he got on that horse, would he have been able to stay on for the full 8 seconds? Next time I will be ready with a camera and a 40. By the way, does anyone else have video of it?

there were some camera pics and 30 sec clips of it posted back when.
I didnt save them but I too got to enjoy it front row.

Renz is a blast just reading his posts.
You should try hanging out with him sometime.

If you want to go to the one place in KC that is considered the best. It is Arthur Bryants. The original location is NOT in the best part of town but it is what KC is famous for in terms of BBQ. Several presidents and so on have graced their doors.
I am a Gates fan and like it better than any of the other places.
All I know is after being at the track all day, BBQ really hits the spot.

Speaking of Renz, make sure you wash your hands immediately after you shake his hand, or get near him. Last year he was playing with his pet bird Petey. Im sure there are those pics around somewhere.

Oh yea and about the bbq....jackstack gets my vote.

I like the idea of cruising to a BBQ place in a pack of Sy/Tys. Safety in numbers, and all. Someone on here said that Arthur Bryant's isn't in the best part of town. But what night? Saturday night is Gate's, that leaves Thursday and Friday.

Yes, after extensive testing, we determined that the bird was indeed infected with the type-3 birdcase strain. Highly lethal to anyone who comes in contact with such dead bird. Only Renz is powerful enough to withstand such strain.

I'm gonna stop by Arthur Bryant's sometime over the weekend,during daylight :tup:

IMO as long as you don't look like a "victim",you can pretty much go anywhere.

Kansas finnally passed the concealed weapons law also... doesn't go into effect until 07 though.
