PW Syclone.... Updated

Re: PW Syclone.... ???

Re: PW Syclone.... ???

Yea marty, I think you remember that I have the RC body but I'llprobably never open it and put it onto a chassis. The PW SY is a little bigger than the RC and it's not radio controlled.. he'll have to do all of the driving.

There is a high/low shifter (also reverse) to make up for the second battery, but I don't think he'll be using the high. It's still locked out of that setting. We'll work up to that on at a later time. Once he masters that then I'll see if I can put the 12V battery in and blow the motor.

Wish me luck all, it's getting base/clear tonight. Hope it turns out ok. I'll post pics Sunday or Monday of what it will look like for Homecoming.

Re: PW Syclone.... Update...

Ok, I admit it that I am not the best painter in the world but it turned out ok. Not bad for my first time ever with a gun like the pros use. No more rattle cans for me.

It's all black now and clear coated. Not sure if I need to sand and polish it, depends on the time I have which is not looking good. I'll put the decals on it probably at the last minute, going to be tough to get the windows and grill to fit just right.

Anyway, still have some assemble to do but here are todays pics of the progress... Enjoy!

I left cladding, interior and under hood flat black

The powerplant... maybe I should change 4.3 to 6Volt

The look on his face when it's complete...Priceless !

Well, I opted to skip the wet sanding and polishing step so it has some orange peel but overall not bad. I put the decals on it, nothing special just basic shapes for the effect.

My son is absolutely thrilled about it and sits in it all day watching TV... well as long as we let him anyway. We dropped it off at my parents house where he has more daylight time to ride it. Hopefully he'll be pretty efficient in it before Homecoming.

Here are two final pics... I'll take more at a later time when I can have it next to my SY.

so can he ride in that beast
Well, he gets so excited about driving it that all I hear is "daddy truck, daddy truck" all day long. He still needs to learn about driving but that's the best part of the whole project. He climbs into it and reaches out to press the gas but the launch tosses him back just enough to pull his foot off the pedal. At this point it's more of a "stop-n-go" type of driving... sort of like a blonde at a flashing red light. No worries though, I'll have him ready for homecoming.

No go on the seat decal, it's textured and would eventually come off. Maybe I can try to heat it up to get it to conform to the testure, I'm sure that'll help. RIghtnow I have other projects that take priority so maybe I'll give it a shot for the weekend at homecoming just for the looks.

Dirt pile huh? This could get interesting... I should bring the video cam too. (not for him, I'm thinking for the big wheels after hours)
