Rebuild, stock cam?

Im gonna start a rebuild and after searching the threads and internet it seems the stock cam -10214714 is a discontinued part from GM. After looking at the specs it seems the Melling CCS38 is the closest (if not the same) to the stock cam. Is this correct? Can anyone chime in? Wanna do the rebuild as stock as possible. Thx

Their is one currently on eBay. Is your original damaged or do you not have an original camshaft?

The CCS-38 has slightly less lift than the original city cam .359 vs .351 (intake) and .386 vs .390 (exhaust).

I couldn't find the one you mentioned on eBay.. Maybe I don't know wtf I'm looking for.. Lol.
I have the stock cam (118k) but I was looking to just get a new one. Mainly to put "mostly" everything new. May end up using the same Pistons ( new rings)... Haven't decided yet. TYTILIDIE, is the one you have a new or used one?

Unless its severely worn, you can (and probably should if you really want to stay truly stock) reuse it in the build. Can have it cleaned up for new lifters at a machine shop

Thx for the list. I've been searching for about a week now for a new one and every number I punch in comes back to discontinued or a aftermarket replacement.:roll:

IMO I don't think its really worn, but if I don't go with a new one I'll just take it to the machine shop with the block and have them take care of it. Thx for the input guys! Gonna get this rebuild rolling.

So I ended up buying the NOS cam-10214714 that was on Ebay..and I just received it today. After looking at it I noticed it has an extra lobe in the front part of the cam. Looks like a mechanical fuel pump lobe. Does this sound about right? Will it make any difference if that extra one is there? Gonna start the dismantle of the engine tomorrow to see whats inside.

Sounds to me like the cam you recieved is a marine cam. The marine 4.3 engines with roller cams still had mechanical fuel pumps. I don't think any roller cam (in a car) 4.3 ever had a mechanical fuel pump. I once had a 1988 iroc z with a carb 305. It was roller cam with mechanical fuel pump. The cam you have should work fine, the lobe for the fuel pump rod should not interfere with your engine.

Thx, Yeah that's kinda what I thought but wanted to get opinions. I started to dismantle the engine today. Not looking to bad, but I think I have two bent rods:tdown:.
