With about 3700 members on syty.net I don't think $10k is possible. If you had 1/4 of all members donate $10 you would almost make it, but I doubt 1/4 of the members would part with any money.

I think people are reading into this wrong. If you want to help OFFSET his costs donate, if not don't. If you want to see a bigger payout then donate to the nats. Your choice.

First of all I want to thanks everyone who wants to help me out! This is not an easy task, to have the truck brought over to the USA. If this is gonna happen, I promise that you wont be dissapointed! I just want to you all to know, that if this is not gonna work out in anyway, I will refund all the money of course. Most of the money will come from my pocket in the end, but all contributions are worth a lot! Last year, when racing in Belgium, they called me "The Crazy Swede"! Now when I think about it, it´s very true.... to have my truck shipped over to the other side of the world, just to have a few 1/4 passes! But that is the beauty of it! I really love these cars (SY/TY) that´s why I want to meet you all on your ground. To have the same trackcondition, and the same timingequipment. Hope to run a low 9, or high 8. This is gonna be a big story here in Europe, regarding this event and me bringing the truck over. Sorry, I`m not that good of a writer, but I read and speak much better. That´s why I haven´t been writing that much here. Again, I´m gonna try my very best to make this happen!

3700 member is an optimistic number, they are around 500 of us who regularly contribute to this site. The Nats attracks ~100 owners, I can't see everyone going to the nats donating...

If it where that easy green card and all.

He have been livin and workin down in florida miami early -90 then he was into car sound competition.. he bought his Sy there and had it brought with him home to sweden..

I donated, and I don't have a snowballs chance in hell of making the Nats. Lets say 100 people donate 50, then that is at least 5000 less out of pocket :tup:

He had his Sy shipped from the US to Sweden for some stupid low price,like 1500 or so. He may hold the key to you getting your truck shipped cheap.

Should be fun to watch the 2 crazy fast trucks (You and Hoover's) run side by side.There really is no need for Ed Hess to show up (Third place is just the second loser) :lol:

you know...there may be a few other 'sleeper' trucks that could give these 3 a run for their money....

...maybe even make it to Nats.....what ever happened to Mike Lee's 'ghettosled'? That's a twin-turbo truck that hasn't been heard from in quote awhile...badnews...others 'lurking'...

my hat goes off to robert for such dedication. It's pretty far to come all the way from Ca, yet alone Sweden! Like many others I dont have $5k to spend just to prove I have a fast truck(and some dont even consider it a syty cause it's 2wd, however i do have 2 fully built awd syclones sitting here just begging for my motor )

I would love to make it to the nats, especially if Robert, Ed, and some other new nats attendies make it, however family duties may make it difficult this year. I have stated several times in the past i would contribute to a cash purse to help offset some travel expenses of the racers, as long as it isnt the Hoovers vs an 11 sec truck. If there is a group of say 5 or more pro cars (Hoovers, Ed, RObert, Badnews, 2fastguys, John in Co., etc. then it would be interesting.) There are surely many more and a ton more low low 10 sec trucks that could be extremely competitive with good driving technique. We could probably even raise truck count by allowing 2wd trucks as long as they are limited to a drag radial tire (considering there arent any trucks in the 8s 2wd or 4wd... period)

I think if the Nats organizers really wanted to attract some serious trucks they need to get on the phone and start calling these guys. Most people dont have time to chat on the boards, and just figure next year will be like the previous year with poor truck count so they are not interested. You put up a $5k-$10k purse 6 months to a year in advance and rest assured you WILL have some fierce competition. I know i speak for myself and many others that if there was something to compete for besides braggin rights, we would be preparing well in advance. Raise the pro class registration fee to $200 per car and let all the proceeds go towards the top finishers with a majority going to the winner.

So you figure 5-10 trucks @ $200ea., $10 per general registration going towards the purse plus a few hundred here and there from the syty vendors, and there ya go.

Your Right about the fast trucks in generall I think, braggin rights isnt everything once you´ve earn it..

Roberts dream has been the "run his car amongst the wild one at the same time and place" that would end all this discution about trac conditions, different rules,air, altitude,fuel, cheats and more..

we´re workin har here to atend the nats, but its not that easy to just haul your container there and race.. theres alot of paperwork to get the car thru customs, cross the borderline AND back safe without having to pay extra taxes and customs fee and whatever the authority´s may regulate..

Even make sure the SHRA rules IS compatible to the NHRA rules, would´nt be fun to be stopped att the race because the rules stipulate different aproatch to safety..

Lots to think about not only to get there.

what port are you thinking of shipping to?

PhIladelphia, newarK, New York or elsewhere?

if you do ship into philadelphia then Atco Raceway is a 20 - 30 minute ride from the port.

not sure if you have the logistics of shipping or towing from a port to the middle of the usa (kansas city).

anyway if your going to be passing thru we might as well take em both to the local track and go at it.
