Smashed the front End

So I was driving along, and I hit a Peugeot 505S and slower than 30MPH, I just looked away, he slowed down for no reason, and when i looked back I had no time to brake

and it looked like this

This is how my car looked before

I want to keep it S10, I like the design of the front end, but I'm not sure whether to return to it's oringal way, or paint the bowtie, shell, and valance. Right now I'm thinking of painting the entire grille shell.

I have to replace the front headlights, turn signals, core support, radiator, hood, front fenders, bumper, plus a few odds and ends.

My plan is to install my grant kustoms rollpan and smooth the rear end, and return it to nearly the same condition it was in, but shave the roofrack nuts, rear wiper holes, front antenna hole, and have the rear windows, mirrors, and doorhandles painted. I plan to have the rollpan only smoothed to the bed corners, but not the cab, so that when I want to work on the rear of the car it will be really easy to take off those parts. I will still be taking out some other cab seams though. My main point with this car is to make it look good, but how it performs and how easy it is to work on is more important. By having all of those panels connected it should be really easy to mount and dismount with only 8 or so bolts. It gives it good looks, but with race car simplicity.

For paint color I'm thinking of respraying it the same color, but maybe update it with a pearl clear or something interesting, I'm going to talk to a custom paint shop soon after I get the insurance check. Respraying it a different color would incur alot more cost for the doorjambs, engine bay, and stuff like that if I wanted it to look like it had always been that color.

Here's my progress since tues when the adjuster came:

And I've already started work on alot of the little touches, like a custom ECU mount I'm going to make out of my old Overflow that the ECU sat on.

New overflow coming:

New PS Cooler coming:

then I saw this lol
prm-1007_w.jpg

some I'm probably getting that now.

I will be revising the air intake system I had before, and hopefully everything will be more refined. The e-fans are being swapped to the other side (grille side) of the radiator, and are going where the A/C condensor used to go, just for example the power steering cooler is going behind the radiator and not through the core support so it won't run under and through my cold air intake box, so more power, and overall the engine bay should be alot cleaner.

I still have to install my battery relocation kit as well, so there should be alot of good changes coming, and alot of wiring being shifted around. I'm also getting a notch, going and going to drop it 3/4" more in the rear to level out the ride.

Sorry for the long post, just got alot of stuff coming, I'll let the pics talk. Should be be getting alot done this weekend.

So give me your suggestions, comments, and ideas!

Re: Smashed the front End

yeah, but then I'd need skirts and rears too, and I already scrape all the time.

Is that bagged?

I do like X kits though, I think my blazer is much more of a sleeper without a kit.

I forget to mention this should be pretty easy for me because I've done this sort of thing to the blazer before

It's actually really refreshing to re-work everything exactly how I want with a second go. :)

Re: Smashed the front End

yeah i like your original look better.
Maybe go for the envoy fenders and HID headlights but no X junk.

At least you are taking it well and have a solid plan.
Is ins gonna take care of you?

Re: Smashed the front End

I think you should put a GMC grille on it, I always like the way the GMC front ends looked compared to the chevy's. Nice looking truck by the way, sorry to hear about the accident
Just my $0.02

Re: Smashed the front End

well the bowtie front is not bad but ditch the chrome, all the same color is sporty but sleeper at the same time, whether it be chevy or gmc. oh and no extreme kit just get the back down a little and it will look perfect:tup:

Re: Smashed the front End

Thanks for all the support guys, I am pretty sure I am picking up a full front clip so by monday I should have 90% of the replacement parts for it, and hopefully get my ins. check then too.

I'm only getting $2500 from ins. :/, I got quote 6g to repair it, good thing I can do 90% of the work myself.

I'm going to have most of the bodywork done by forum members, as it will be about 1/5 the price of going to a shop.

Here's a photochop I did of a painted front end (minus mirrors/doorhandles, plus the airdam's a crappy chop).

I think a fresh coat of paint and an all-new front end should really set this thing off :).

As far as switching to an Envoy/GMC front end, I really like those too, however I really like the design of the S-10 and I already have alot of parts that will work for it.

Re: Smashed the front End

Daveman2 consider painting your headlight bezels like Wicked Mayhem on s10F did. i think that'll be the cherry on top.

Can I see a picture? I was actually toying with the idea on photoshop a few days ago and figured it might look kind of silly.

Got the PS cooler and overflow, going to return the 2-row PS cooler for the 4-row.
Summit is great, I got my order in a little over 36 hours.

Re: Smashed the front End

Wow, thank you, I am pretty sure I will be doing that. and it's my color too :)
Basically I want to do the same thing, except I have all diamond clear lights, a speed grille instead of the bars, and I think a painted valance with a small black lip bolted on, and a painted bowtie or chrome bowtie would look nice

Re: Smashed the front End

Got more parts today, all I need now is a radiator, grille shell, and hood!
Those are new fenders BTW, I happened to find ones in the same color, They're getting a spray in the end though.

You can see in thise pic one of them needs a little metalwork/finishing
