my 4x10 were butter compared to the 4x6 cause in the dash you dont have enough speaker wire to really move much.

I got a set of these to install in my brother's '87 regal... review forthcoming.
I have a firm rule of not buying speakers that I haven't listened to... so I use other people as guinea pigs.

Quality-wise, they look quite good, and include nice crossovers. I don't buy in to the "style" aspect of speakers (that's not what they're for), but they are pretty.

Neat thing, is that they fit exactly in the GM rear speaker mount brackets.

I got these in this weekend... they *are* nice sounding speakers. I would recommend keeping < 60 Hz away from them... I didn't care for their deep-bass response. They're not a sub, and aren't designed to be; I set the HPF function on the deck to like 50 Hz.

That being said, they kick the crap out of the GM "premium" (sic) speakers. Very nice, smooth midrange, and a not-too-shiny tweeter. Adequate midbass. They seem to like good clean power, and will reveal the limitations of the deck when driving them directly from the deck. (Driving them with a Pioneer 1.5 Din that I got from Pancakes)

They'd work well with a smallish (8") sealed enclosure sub behind the seats, letting the sub do the heavy lifting below 100 hz or so. I put some cheapie 3.5" Kickers in the front of the Regal, which worked ok for upper-mid and tweet duty. (Keeping <600 away from these)

Was a really well-imaged, full sound in the Regal, and I'd expect that they'd do as well or better in a Sy.

Bringing this back from the dead...

So I thought I had blown my stock 4x10 awhile ago and knew it was something that I need done but didn't really want to pay $100 for a pair. So this past sunday night I'm at a local Circuit City and I see a pair of open boxed (still in the box) for $25 (the normally $100 pair). The fat kid at CC tells me up and down they were only display speakers and never left the store and that they work, I'm sold.

So I finally get around to wanting to install them Tuesday night, open the box and the first that that falls out is somebodies eviction notice from some apartment. Weird. Next I take out the speakers and turn them over and it says....MEMPHIS! WTF! I've been had, as all sales are final. So Google I go and can't really find anything out on "Memphis" execpt that people like their subs.

Went back to CC the next day told them whats up, we test the speakers they work. I wasn't overly pissed, I mean it was only $25. So I go back home start taking the old ones out (drivers side) and notice it was the easiest thing ever and the stock speaker is actually mounted to the plastic cladding. I don't know what people were saying about it being mounted to the pillar.

I hook up the memphis speaker and still nothing. I take out my deck and wouldn't you know, I didn't have the damn plug all the way in. I leave the SGT stung out, close the door and go inside for a beer and call it a night.
