Steering wander

i bought mine from maximum motorsports. it's nice if you don't mind buying from the mustang guys. i paid under $50 for the caster/camber gauge (the one without bumpsteer).

i know this is a late post but i wanted to add something for those doing a search for this topic.

my truck is perfectly aligned (by me) and double checked on a machine (no adjustments needed). i took it right to the recommended specs (lots of caster) and i have tried the factory specs too. i have universals in the steering shaft ONLY because i had them on my chevelle and i didn't think i would get anything for them on ebay. i have the polygraphite bushings everywhere, new moog everything, zq8 steering box, and stock wheels. i must admit i don't have a stabilizer and probably never will. when you turn my steering wheel there is ZERO play; when you turn the wheel 1/2", the front wheels move.

my truck still wanders slightly. i think they all just do that because of the AWD and big tires. i barely even notoce it but my girlfriend bitches about it constantly and drives slower which makes it worse.

anyway thats just my take on the whole steering wander thing. if you don't like it go buy a WRX or AWD eclipse and bolt on 100 HP.

I just had the Ty aligned. To get the camber at -0.3 we ran out of adjustment for camber. He could only get the caster to 2.8.

It seems to wander much more than the Sy.

Not sure why we ran out of adjustment unless there is something not right with the frame.

Any ideas?

Camber at 2.8 will wear tires quickly.

Camber needs to be closer to zero.

Unless you meant to say caster, as it is commonly confused which is which.

Unless you own one of those sweet sweet Honda Civics that are slammed to the ground in someone's drive-way with no worry of an alignment afterward. The closer to diagonal the wheels/tires get the cooler it is these days I think.
