Stock turbo record.. should it count?

Should it count setting a stock turbo record if you are using a aftermarket( not original) trans, torque converter?
What if you SY Or Ty is completly gutted..& weighs in at 3000lbs... should that count?
How about running an aftermarket DFI. Fast, Accel ,SDS ???
What about running a different engine that is not original?
How about a huge aftermarket intercooler.. does that count?
How about running nitrous w/a stock turbo..???
Adding Nitro to your fuel... should that count?
How about running pure Methanol or pure alcohol in you fuel tank. should that count??
Lets here what you people think counts for setting a stock turbo record.

The thing that get's me is those three words that keep popping up in seqence over and over.

"STOCK TURBO RECORD"

Why not "STOCK TURBO, INJECTOR, I/C, FUEL FILTER, TAIL LIGHT LENS, SPARE TIRE, WINDOW STICKER, NO WAX ON THE PAINT, AND CETRIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SEAT RECORD"

How many truley stock SY TY's are out there. Of those honest to God stock trucks (every nut and bolt) how many are going to the strip trying to set records.

IMO "STOCK TURBO RECORD" should be just that. If the turbo is stock, the record should count. But that's easy for me to say since I'm not trying to set any records.

Just an opinion, and prolly not a very good one...

Lets here what you people think counts for setting a stock turbo record.

Turbo charged big block being fed by a stock turbo......its a stock turbo so have at it. Hell, they shouldnt call it a turbo anyways as the name "cork" would be more appropriate.

Jeremy is going by the Nats rules. About as close as we have to a class system.

There is so much money to be gained by holding a record I can understand the concern.

the trans is our weak link, not really the motors

Anyone who wants to set "a record" should try doing it by a set of rules that are actually enforcred by a sanctioning body such as the NHRA or IHRA.You can still race these trucks in the stock class.

I can only say.
I had stock injectors.
Pitbull chip. 2 Bar
Stock trans/converter. 2100RPM max stall.
AFPR.
ATR aux cooler.
MSD 6A
ATR air box & K&N
2.5 inch stock downpipe to 3 inch catback tail pipe all the way to the back.
Almost full tank of pump gas.
Nitto drag radials (old dried out used ones) Stock wheels.
Only thing removed was spare wheel & jack,
other than that it was & is a complete heavy truck.Nothing else removed.
This was done back in 2001.. if I remember correctly.
All tuning was done by myself.
It even had the original spark plugs, wire cap & rotor.

well if you did it with that then it shouldn't be a problem to beat it by turning it up some, and have the record

I also agree that the stock turbo class rules are the rules that should be used for the 'record'.

You went almost as fast with less stuff than he did...so what. Bottom line is, his is faster now. Why not see at as a challenge to make your truck faster?

going fast is kewl, but going fast for cheap is awesome



No complaints here...
BTW you have the right chip to run the fastest I ran 12.29 @ 108 w/a Pitbull chip. :tup:

well i ditched the pitbull in fav of a 50lb since i scored a good deal on a set of 50s and had two or three of the stocks go bad. that and i'm run a ty not a sy
