Only thing I've seen so far that I like is the Rad funnel kit but even that is expensive. Cut the bottom off a plastic oil bottle. Works great.
...

I think it is actually like $15-$20 in store. Don't know why it's so much online. How do you get an oil bottle to seal to the IC?

I don't. Only works for the radiator. But works well enough for me. If I was a professional full time mechanic like a lot of folks here I would own a whole lot more tools.

AFA the IC goes I have long hoses over the drivers side so I don't drain it. I just set it off to the side. Or for engine removal I remove the wheel well and set it on the ground. Works fine and no start up issues with getting the air out of the thing.

I did, however, pick up a power steering pulley remover/installer awhile back at a decent price so I have one of those. In the end, IMHO, it makes R&R the PS pump much easier.

These trucks are cursed
Re: tools every SY/TY owner should have

how about one of those metal grabber thingies? i dunno the real name for it, but that flexable spring type thing that's about 3' long, and you squeeze the end like a syringe and the lil claw comes out? anyone know wtf i'm talkin about? it comes in handy when you drop tools/nuts/bolts down into the abyss... aka the engine bay.

I've lost count how many times I've dropped a screwdriver, screws, bolts, whatever... and you hear them clank around and you wait for that sound of them hitting the driveway and it just never happens. Then you hunt around for 10 minutes trying to find what crevice it landed in only to find that you can't get your hand down there to grab it.

Just tearing down the front end of my truck, i've already found 3 screwdrivers, 2 rags, random bolts, and hose clamps.

The powerprobe. My super, number one diagnostic tool. Need a ground point? Check. Taillight wiring or back near the fuel tank? The 20' cable has you covered. This is so much handier than a multimeter for most automotive uses, and no cliping your ground onto the steering column bolts to get a good ground and have the leads too short to reach the glovebox. You can actually do a voltage drop test of the whole system, and not, say, from your radio to the dashground, but to the battery.

How about a list of things every SyTy owner should carry in their car in order to minimize the chances of getting stranded?

(Aside from the obvious... like a AAA+ Card and cell phone. ;) )

A tripple-A card is my tool of choice. It's easy to use, and it cuts down on the weight of having a roll-a-way tool box in the bed. :)

I just wanted to chime in, the lisle exhaust mani spreader is a great tool only prob is its designed for a small block with 2 extra cylinders :( which means you can only use it on half the manifold as the spacing is too close on the others, cyl 1-3 and 4-6 the tool wont fit. I just took a bolt some washers and a nut and made a similar tool way back in the day when I had stock manifolds and it worked just fine. Defiantly required to correctly reinstall the manifolds
Heres a pic of stock manifolds so you can see what im talking about :)

I am a dedicated snap on man but they did screw up on one tool that would be great to having for tranny swaps etc but you must buy them from mac as they made them better!
http://www.mactools.com/shoponline/...-3-pc-impact-lock-reducing-extension-set.aspx
or
http://www.mactools.com/shoponline/...-drive-4-pc-impact-extension-adapter-set.aspx
Basically the nice thing is they are a 1/2 extension and the tip is 3/8 so you can fit a smaller swivel socket on the end put have the strength of the 1/2 extension. Snap on made them backwards and took a 3/8 extension and put a 1/2 end on it so your basically using a wimpy 3/8 extension and loosing a lot of power.

Just figured I would share those couple things with ya guys :D
Oh also in case you guys didn't know you can buy mac and snap on online from there sites and they will ship it to you! Great option for those that don't have a tool guy stopping by them every week!
