For the past few months a white typhoon has been gradually restored.
a complete frame off restoration is being done. the owner, tx t-type is keeping the tyhoon body so it can be a true typhoon.

here is a link from when this was first started

so far with the car, new door, frame, suspension, and labor, he has spent $1,240.00. that is almost as much as the average price of a midwestracing car.
not a bad deal!

How was the frame cleaned/painted? Looks like it was just wire brushed, was this sufficient? What kind of paint was used?

Thanks.

i used chassis black with rust inhibitor..so it says...more of a repair job than a restoration job...just wanna get the ty in the shape that it was prior to the big hit...im not in the autobody business, so this is a first frame job for me(a 30 yr. experienced body man works for me however)...its really simple to do...not that many hours so far, at all...i did minimal welding (just parking brake bracket on the frame) and a few drilled holes for the fuel line holders...not looking forward to cladding install...it was a b!tch to remove all the pieces...BTW i found the #1878 on about 4 different hard to find places (unless the ty is stripped) on the vehicle handwritten with a permanent colored marker...my VIN indicates its #0475 however...interesting...ive never even sat in a sy or ty other than my wrecked one...i hear that they are rockets...i think ill find out for myself in about 2 weeks...

p.s. parTYboy:
if you would have asked for the seats, you wouldve gotten them...i decided 10 times to part this truck out b4 working on it...cant guarantee she (former driver) didnt fart on them though :fadein:

I wonder if this isn't the way to determine the lost #'s on Tys??????

It's common knowledge that all of the Sy's match numerically though the Ty's were randomly picked off the production line and delivered over to PAS for final construction. So the last 4 do not match the exact sequence. Food for thought.
