Re: Venders posing as Members.

This hole post has gotten out of hand.

Not really. There is a consensus of opinion based on the somewhat absurd notion posed in the original post. (read through this page in particular and you will learn more about Scott and where he's coming from...hopefully, you'll feel better after that.)

Therefore, we can move on. Nothing to see here folks.

Lock on the way.

Re: Venders posing as Members.

i bet he didn't want to say he was a part re-seller for the simple reason for the OP's opinion, ( he wouldn't have sold them to him), i would even bet more then half the people here posting negative comments about the OP that if they new there rims would show up on this page for allot more money they would second guess selling him to as well, maybe it is about the money or not but helping the syty community finding good deals instead of profiting for the sole purpose on syty members, there is a difference right? for instance, you asked ( JOHN DOE )a member here to help you find parts. well he finds them buys them and sells them to you and says he paid the same amount, but later you find out he sold them to you for double, would you guys feel ok with that? i would feel betrayed a little if you asked me that means my friend would rather profit off then help me. that's shady, that's not a friend,

i can have my opinion as well, so if i knew he was a vendor in a business to resell my wheels for profit with little no cleanup work i wouldn't sell to him either, thats our right isnt it? so why get bashed because we like to be honest private sellers?

this isnt about money, it's clearly about principle
he should have said he was going to buy them clean them up and resell them, if he was a stand up syty community member like people are saying.

thats my :2cents:

Re: Venders posing as Members.

It was just that I feel a vendor should say that they are a vendor when buying from people they don't know.........Why not advertise yourself every chance you get.
Because that's his right. He can announce his status as a vendor if he feels it's necessary. Just like you could require every potential buyer to bring a valid W-2 from last year when buying parts from you. One is just as ridiculous as the other.

And just what constitutes a vendor? Selling a certain numbers of parts per year? Making a certain profit %? Having an income stream account for a certain % of your total income? Being an LLC, S-Corp, etc...? Because if it's selling a certain number of parts or making a certain profit %, then half the members of this board are vendors. And, likely, so are you.

Truth is that Scott's business selling SyTy stuff is probably not his only source of income, or even his primary. Just like me.....which is why when you see me at shows or events, you'll never see me hand out a business card with every handshake nor introduce myself as, "Michael Hood, the owner of ____________". We're not vendors all the time, we can turn it off when we choose. Do you have the right to require transparency when selling parts? Absolutely. Is the burden of vetting these potential buyers solely on you? Absolutely.

So, if "dirty" wheels are worth 400, and someone buys them and puts the work into them to clean them up...and now they're worth 500...you would have a problem with that?? And if so, why wouldn't you just invest the time and money to clean them up...and raise your price??

And how do you know he's not going to clean them? That's pure speculation. He doesn't have to disclose that to anyone...to suggest so is absurd.

And what if he did disclose that? You gonna raise the price on him? If a full time vendor like Sportmachines wanted the wheels to clean and resell...you gonna charge more? Now who looks bad?

I have a half-polished intercooler. If I sell it, I expect the next person to finish the tedious polishing and ask for more if they chose to sell it. I don't care if that's Joe Shmoe or a vendOr. More of concern is that it stays here.

If you got your asking price, who cares who bought them and what they plan do to with them??

Sheesh.

i have said if a buyer buys them & cleans them up resells for a profit of course the profit is justified no doubt, he could have said that as well im planning on cleaning and saving them and put back into the syty community ofcourse i dont have a problem with that at all.

but it seems to be a common problem, ( always being about money ) SO what the buyer wants to wheels to go to the average hard working syty lover SO WHAT its his choice, that doesn't justify a bashing on a forum from his syty brothers or shouldn't anyways.

But you see the absurdity of that, right?
Do you expect every new hire at a legal firm to announce that, "In 5 years I'm going to take all the knowledge I've gained from here and start my own firm."
Do you expect every person in line when the new iPhone goes on sale to announce that they might sell this phone on eBay for more money?

No, you don't....because when that legal firm hires someone or Apple sells a phone they understand that they are giving something to gain something. Just like ANY transaction. After that sale, your control of the future of the product (good or bad) is drastically reduced.

Re: Venders posing as Members.

Then put "no dealers or vendors" in your ad.

Right...or raise your price for vendors and state that in the ad. You'll look like a fool, but at least you'll be a "honest seller".

correction: Your control is ELIMINATED
