he had a Sy and the AWD let him launch better than any car he has ever had.

Once you start going as fast as your talking about it becomes even more of a challenge to make that AWD hook up. Especially on a Ty with the short wheelbase.

Yes, suspension mods and good tires would be required if you're planning to go low 11s or 10s with a Ty.

There is no way a GN is gonna be more of a sleeper at the illegals. They have quite the reputation there, you might be able to take some ricers but not the domestics.

My dad (I drove it for a year when I got my license) had a turbo regal when I was 16 and had a guy say, "I'm not wasting my time racing a cutlass"

They have less of a reputation than a GN though. People know about GN's, especially in the racing scene they have a very good reputation. Those guys are gonna know it's possible for a stock looking GN to run 9's. Awesome cars, but a lot of publicity has hurt there sleeper status. I don't think the turbo regal has gotten the publicity that the GN's have.

I guess I'm above average on mileage. I've averaged 10-14000 miles a year for 4 1/2 years.

I have never felt it was unreliable and have made some really long road trips.
But I have broken a trans or two and really very little else. Of course it is still on the stock block/turbo so the power level helps conserve parts breakage I've had a few components that have failed but most of my work on the truck has been experimenting with intercooler setups, alky injection, and so on.

If it weren't for having to leave it out for the thieves and the elements I'd drive it to work every day but I just don't have a secure place at the new airport I fly out of.

Many trucks that are fast but unreliable have had parts and money thrown at them but they just weren't properly thought out or executed.

I'd say the biggest obstacle to a daily driven 10-11 sec truck would be a trans that can take repeated beatings.

Everything else is relatively easy if you take your time and think of reliability as you plan and build the truck. I have seen some real shoddy workmanship and modifications that just won't stay together.

As far as your Camaro trans is concerned.... my little stock turbo truck would shred it eventually. So many trans builders think they can build a strong trans until they have a customer with a syty.

I think you'd have fun with a syty provided you have the money it willl take to build a reliable truck along with the dedicaton to detail it will take.

my gas mileage went from about 20mpg on the highway with 50lb injectors 330 miles to a full tank to 10-11mpg on the highway with the 84lber's normaly less then 150 miles per tank.

with just a chip and ic pump i went 13.1 and drove 30k miles in 1 year and also was at the track at least once a week with the org motor and trans 60k-90k on the od and even made 2 trips to fl 1000 miles each way untill i forgot to change the oil and was doing 125-130. then all went to hell. but if you find a good unabused or litely abused ty i dont think you will have to many problems with it.. as long as you take care of it and keep it within the milage you are talking about...
