What the hell happened to THIS Sonoma GT !??

This APPEARS to be SoGT # 372... but it's been stripped off 1/2 of what makes it so cool... Dahhamit! Check it out guys...what do you think?

I have a couple questions though....

1) Didn't all Sonoma GT's have the H.O. "Vortec" engine...(L35) ???
2) Did somebody SERIOUSLY find it "worth it" to remove the front bumper cover, front side cladding, rear side cladding, AND the roll pan... and then replace the roll pan with a regualar S10 rear bumper !? (and paint it all black, to try & "get away" with it ?) LOL

How about the exhaust, also. It comes out the BACK, like a Syclone's... not on the pass-side. This $4,995 truck (what a JOKE) confuses me...

Nobody cares about the GT, except for us. I've seen a red/gray that looked just like this one. Owner had a fender bender and he couldn't afford to have the cladding replaced. He also switched to a junkyard TBI manifold when the expensive spider injector gave out.

He used to own a blk/blk Typhoon that he got on trade at his dealer (he is the owner of Richard Belle) and fixed it up a bit (trans issues) and then sold it. His name is Charlie.

Yes, I was actually going to look at the Typhoon he had when I saw the poor thing sitting his back lot and went to take a closer look. IIRC, it came in as a trade in. You can see, it was rough and somewhere along its life, the vortec intake has since been replaced with the CPI setup. Not sure if its an entire motor swap or just the upper intake parts.

Every panel needed to be worked or replaced...dents, scratches and the paint was completely shot. Interior looked like what you would think at 150k of everyday wear and tear. Cracks, dirty and just plain worn. When I saw it, it was what I would consider $800 truck at best and only because it was a SGT.

I have no idea who did the body work or how well it was done. I havent seen the truck in its refurb state since I saw it sitting along the fence line.

The guy has a ton of cars with a mix of trucks, classic muscle and regular daily drivers.

There's a lot more to it than upper intake parts. ECM, wire harness, fuel pump, throttle and TV cables. Doubtful that a L35-cammed engine would run correctly on a stock LB4 'tune'. I would suspect it is a complete engine/trans/ECM/wiring swap from another truck.

The VIN shows "W" so it had the correct engine at one time. It's a POS and should be scrapped.

Yeah, i figured it was more than just the intake parts than just swapping out to a CPI.....once I popped the hood and saw it like that, the worth of the truck went significantly downhill. I think its a salvagable truck if could be got on the cheap, just not sure if someone wanted to put that much time and effort into a SGT unless you already had the motor/parts laying around at the current price. Might as well buy a syclone.
