Wheel choice Woa's!

Alright so i have been searching for the "perfect" set of wheels for the Ty all winter, have been flipping back and forth between a few different choices, chrome or hyper black C6 Z06's, Black Chrome C5 Z06's, or even a set of the ever popular ZR1's, cant go wrong with them with the 11" wide wheels out back always look awesome...

but i just kind of want something different.. then today i stumbled upon a set of wheels i knew i had to have.. here is a quick photoshop of them on my truck:

wheelchop.jpg

Now onto the problem, they only come in 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 both with 35mm offset...
so after some research on here looks like the 35mm offset for the rear will be fine.

buuuuut according to the offset calculator the front 8.5's with 35mm offset will stick out an extra 12mm on the front :banghead:

Question #1.... anyone running similar offset wheels, especially on a lowered truck without ripping cladding off.. do i have any hope of these working or am i SOL?

Question #2.... if that offset is a no go, would it be possible to machine say 5-10mm off the back of the wheels to make the offset closer to stock

Now if anyone actually read through my long story of a post, let me know what you think of the rims, if they would look good on a Ty, or if its even possible to run them :rotf: :(

Thanks

I personally think those would look great if it worked. Can't help ya on the offset though. What are they if you dont mind sharing?

Re: Wheel choice Woa's!

i know my offset is all wacked out. there are ARE wheels where the back seem to line up just right, but the front stick out 3/4 of an inch or so, looks kinda stupid, but never had any problems with them

These trucks are cursed
Re: Wheel choice Woa's!

if your cladding is attached securely i don't think the wheels will rip it off even if you bottom out the front end. then maybe get a 1/2" billet spacers for the back wheels to kinda even it out???

12mm is less than a half of an inch...you should be fine.

Agreed, that isn't tooooo much and considering how good those wheels look, I say go for it.

Are those the ASA jh8?

no they aren't, pretty similar but these have a flat spoke
I guess i could post what they are... but if anyone remotely close to me buys them im going to kick them in the nuts

They are Sport Max Racing 962, or XXR 962

here is a pic of them on a T/A

well thats encouraging knowing that they should work.. i was bummed out when i thought they wouldn't fit lol
so is anyone actually running rims that have a similar offset or that stick out approximately that much
i would really like to see some pictures, im just afraid it will stick out too much and look stupid
that and im worried about hitting cladding...

and about tire size i was thinking 255 40 18 front and 295 35 18 rear
anyone know of some reasonably priced tires, i cant find anything under about $1100 for a set of 18's...

Sure they are, if you think 108+ shipping a tire is cheap, I have 275/40/18 HTRZ ll's on all four courners, I thought it was pretty painless buying them, they look cool too

Re: Wheel choice Woa's!

Well after thinking about it for a while and looking at alot of wheel pictures i think i might go with some chrome C6 Z06's instead
those other rims for a while they just come across to import tuner style for me, besides i need more BLING!! lol

So i did another photoshop with the Z06's to see.. (yes im bored, have been sick and off work for a few days haha)
wheelchop-2.jpg

but im having a hard time finding anyone that has them in stock, everyone seems to be back ordered
were has everyone else ordered from?
and anyone get rims off of tire rack? they have the Z06's but they are aparently from a company "sport edition"
im assuming they are probably manufactured by the same place that does all the other knock off z06's but just wondering if anyone had any experience with them..

im looking at:
18x8.5 56mm Front - - - - 18x10.5 58mm Rear
and am thinking of getting 255/40ZR18 and 295/35ZR18 BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 for tires..

thats what im leaning towards now anyway... see if i change my mind tommorow

The c6's are ALL OVER , but look great. I like your first wheel option, but if they wont fit PERFECT ... dont try it ;) ---

If you used the 8.5 Rims the offset would only off in the front by ~12 mm or 1/2". IMO that is fine. The 9.5" rears would be off by 25 mm from factory or 37mm from the fronts. I would just use an 1 1/4" or 1 1/2" spacer with those.
