WTF is wrong with my wiper??

No jokes, please .. at least no bad ones!

Here's the list - don't laugh:

Errata #1:
It started a couple of months ago after it rained... my wiper started to wipe twice when I use the turn signal.
Errata #2:
My alarm will lock the car and close the window the first time I hit the brake with ign. on or engine started and unlock as soon as I switch off the ignition. NOW, after a car wash or rain it closes the window sometimes when I hit the brake... .
Errata #3:
Lately my wipers wipe once or twice when I hit the turn signal (left/right makes no difference)
Errata #4:
I cut the brown wire to the fog light switch to operate my fog lights without the indicators on ("driving lights") NOW my HID's come on when I switch on the fog lights w/o the indicators on... the HID's stay OFF when the indicators are on AND I switch the fog lights on... .
Without HID's - npf (no problem found)
Errata #5:
Yesterday, the wiper starts to wipe after a usual SoCal freeway bump (for example a bridge).

I know that there is a diode somewhere to let power only flow in one direction for the wipers but the sum of all electrical misbehavior makes me scared... .
Any ideas?

PS:
Need tools ... where can I get the special nut/lug tool to open the bolts to remove my front prop-shaft? How is it called .. have a vibration problem on top ... Brian F.(hiwinds) are you out there? I'll bring a six-pack Corona or even German beer and limp down south - LOL

I know what you are going through, washed my truck the other day and turned on the wipers to help clear the water and my wipers wouldn't shut off, had to pull the damn fuse.

Wow, you're lucky to have 'em wipe twice! When I use my turn signal either direction it only wipes once! In the steering column housing(cylinder) someone mentioned(on this BB in the past) that there's a switch(?) which prolly need's to be changed.
My stalk was cracked so I changed it anyways thinking it'll solve problem but I still get the automatic wipe every time I turn!

They're just inverse Torx bits. E14 and E16 I think. The bolt head looks like a regular Torx bit, while the socket looks like the head of a regular Torx bolt. I got a 4 pack that had both sizes at AutoZone for a few bucks.

heres my best guess,

1 youve got a problem with the wiring for the wipers in the steering column

2 if the alarm has remote start and window rollup. water is leaking thru the firewall via the siren wire or the door boot via the lock wires and getting into the module or molex plugs.
The water is creating a circuit between the brake shutdown wire and the ground when armed if this is used to raise the windows.

As for the unlockin gwhen youturn the ignition off. if youhave ingnition locking enabled in the alrm this would be norrmal behavior.

now if its only and alarm with keyless entry and not remote start and has no window rollup, then your screwed and none of what i said above means anything.

I do have automatic lock and automatic window roll-up when activating the alarm (no remote start though) and it's a supposed function to unlock the truck as soon as the ignition is off BUT it's not supposed to close the windows on hitting the brake after the truck got wet :x .
I crawled already under the dashboard, having the truck soaked with water, nothing wet from the firewall and nothing which may short the wiring to the windows.
I'll check into the horn circuit - this was a good hint to look!

With the wiper:
Am I happy that I am not the only one with the wiper problem???
Any advice where I can check or how to torture my multimeter.

ok

so assuming your hitting the brake with the truck moving a bit.

Next if your window rollup module was installed in the door (which they recommend against but everyone does it.

Be sure it is inside something waterproof (zip lock bag) , the connecter facing down with a drip loop.

Now if that doesnt find anything look at your brake lever under the dash.

check to see if your alarm wiring is being caught up in the brake lever or brake switch assembly.

as for cutting wires in the factory harness to do off the wall shit.....

reconnect the brown wire. If you want daytime running lights there are prewired setups made for this i beleive.

Infact if you want daytime running lights...just turn the lights on yourself.

nothin more simple than that.

Pre-wired daytime running lights will dim the headlights... wont work with HID's
Just the fog lights on is ... sorry ... kinda cool... especially if they are not fog lights anymore and the home of 100 Watt H1's- LOL
Worked great with the regular headlights but not with the HID's. I guess I have to check for ground loops - welcome to American engineering.

M@ i have the same problem with my wipers too... funny this isnt a problem on my 94 blazer, nor was it a problem on my old 91 S10. ive come out in the morning to go to work and ill see my wipers moving on their own... on windy days ill come out to the truck and see an outline of dust from when the wipers magically turned on and wiped the dust away... the wipers also work without the ignition turned on, and turn on when i make turns, use my signal, or go over a bump.

im ready to get some rain X, and yank the fuse!

we're in so cal... it rains what? 5 maybe 6 days a year?

I know what the problem is exactly...but nobody has guessed it yet. So I'm going to leave you all in suspense as I'm going home and too lazy to post the answer right now. If your lucky I'll even dig up the Repair Order from my truck.

While this is probably the most common problem encountered by S-series owners it's not the solution that I had. Re-reading M@'s post I think that he may want to try this first.

If that doesn't fix it...and it really is the same as my problem...change the computer board on the firewall. It gets wet easy and starts to go bad. This was my problem.

Sounds like your problem/fix was easier. helfmann, try his fix first. If that isn't the solution, use those instructions.
