What is a pinion corrected block?

See the angled part? That's what corrects for pinion angle.

Re: If you run drop 3" leafs, come on in.

I use the belltech 3" leafs, without stock wedge and my wheel is pretty close to centre in the wheel well. The pinion angle is good also. Been driving for 2 years and no problems.

with no blocks you can use the stock U bolts.
Which worked out for me b/c I added a 1" pinion corrected block to get my driveshaft alignment back where it needed to be..
What angle did you get with 1" block, 1-deg, 2-deg, or 3-deg?

Re: If you run drop 3" leafs, come on in.

the u bolts for the 2"blocks were too long for my truck when I did this modification
That's a very common occurrence, you're supposed to install them then cut off the extra sometimes, I know it sounds dumb but that's what you get with cheap lowering kits.

What shocks are everyone using on the rear with 3" drop leafs? I read that the Bilstein HDs will bottom out often if used. I'm looking at the flex-o-form drop leafs for the weight savings (i can't seem to find out the exact savings though).

I believe I have seen many trucks running the kyb monomax's

I have the Belltech's with the wedge and set back plate. My Typhoon is pretty low in back and rides the bump stop which also means it rides like shit when you hit any bump. I'm removing the bump stop and bracket above the axle and going to install some air bags on the rear so it will come up 1" and have adjustibility for hauling loads or if I have people in the back. I had to get rid of my Monomax stock length shocks because they were bottoming out and got Nitro Drop shocks from Belltech. They will come down over time as the spring settles.

Belltech makes nice 2" Nitro Drop shocks. pretty cheap too, $42 each from summit

Re: If you run drop 3" leafs, come on in.

so if i install the belltechs, how big of a lowering block will i need if i'm looking for a "two-finger" gap between the tire and wheel arch? after reading all of the posts it sounds like i need to install the belltechs and get 2" blocks with the pinion wedges?

anyone have a similar set up going on?

Re: If you run drop 3" leafs, come on in.

I am running the Bell Techs drop leafs and a 1" BT block with 2* of pinion angle built in, but no stock wedges.

I had the u joint angles measured at a 4x4 lifting place locally and they said it was a closer match than most of their skyjackers ran.

I did buy the magnetic angle measuring tool but never really convinced myself I was doing it right so I just took it to someone who knows driveline angles.

I have a 3 finger gap now with no blocks on my Typhoon. Syclone may be different.

Jason I checked out the pics of your ty and i'd like to go about an inch lower on my Ty. So i guess 2" blocks is about right... just gotta figure out the pinion angle for another inch lower...

Nitro drop shocks might be ok for the rear but they're a bit sloppy up front... not really stiff enough... err at least not for my liking.

Re: If you run drop 3" leafs, come on in.

On a Typhoon-
Belltech springs + 2" drop blocks = Axle touching the bump stop bracket with no load!
Even if you shaved the bracket and bump stop off, it would still hit the frame unless you notch the frame.
Then you will have problems with the tires hitting the cladding.

With just the springs alone (no blocks), I'm always hitting the bump stop. Then I trimmed the stop and now I hit the bump stop bracket right above the axle. If I put a small load in the back (ie- set of wheels and tires), it rides on the bump stop bracket the whole time. I couldn't imagine what it would be like if I had 2" blocks!

Just something you may want to think about.

Also remember the Belltech springs will settle 1-2" after a month.

With stock springs and 2 inch blocks, my Ty hit the frame on bumps. I bought Monroe coilovers, work great. After several days the Ty is only half inch higher.

Re: If you run drop 3" leafs, come on in.

got my diff back under the truck. excuse the truck for being filthy. it's been sitting for 5 months.

it sits a little rear off center of the wheel-well. but there is no weight on the leafs.

- stock axle with stock perches, over
- JTR setback plates, over
- stock pinion wedge, over
- Belltech spring plate (came on leafs), over
- Belltech 3" drop leafs.

stock shock plates, temporarily until i get some traction bars.

Here is my Ty with Belltech drop leafs + 1" blocks + JTR axle set back plates - stock wedges:

Had to trim about half off the rear bump stops to avoid hitting them. Currently my truck sits slightly too low in the rear, so I'm going to replace the 1" blocks with 1/2" blocks.

I trimmed half of the rubber from the rear bump stops and now my axle hits the bump stop metal bracket. It now hits hard (metal to metal) on small bumps. When I carry a small load like 4 wheels and tires in the back, its worse. Yours doesn't do this??? The cut bump stops and brackets are totally coming off soon!
