Re: One last shot... Breaking up!

The delphi 50lb inj are junk. i have flowed several sets of those and none are even close to being 50's. they are in the 42-45 lb range with one maybe being a 48lb inj. I think i told you about that problem with those inj a few posts back.

When you start having issues like this it's best to go back to the basics IE stock chip, inj, map, thing that you know works.

Re: One last shot... Breaking up!

how long have you had the 50's in the truck?

Matt little had a very simalir problem with his ty.The truck would get a lean miss and run like crap. The only way we could take care of the problem was set the fuel pressure @ 55 line off.

We fought this problem for a while. I then suggested that we flow the injectors. We actually flowed several sets of the delphi 50's and they flowed anywhere from 42-46 lb/hr with a fuel pressure of 43.5.

if one will search his name and look he has posted the info.

Racetronix Has all of the inj. at the cheapest prices :)

Just not sure what 60lb or 63lbs as they put them are right for our trucks If you need new ones try them maybe ??
Just trying to help

I found that. That's where I will probably end up buying them from. I'm not sure whether I should get 65lb low impendance or 66lb high impendance? Not sure which is better or right for our trucks either? Their prices are unbeatable though!

Considering the luck everyone else has had with the highs, I'd go with that. Lows youre looking at modding the ECM.

I think the 50s in my truck are lows. They're 1.8 ohms across the coils. I never moded my ECM.... I don't know much about injector stuff.

I know with the stock computer you have to have High Z Injectors unless it was converted for low Z But Im sure what set to order so maybe someone will chime in here and help us both :D

Geez, I don't think I'm comfortable doing all that even though I have 2 ECM's to mess with...

Just get the High Z inj. and be done with it :) The go all the way up to 80lbs now! ;)
Im like you though and dont know what ones to purchase as there are 3 styles.

Most people have said the high z's arent that great passed 65#ers. The mod isnt that bad but can be frustrating depending on what type of equipment you are using.

Re: One last shot... Breaking up!

My tuner recomended 65lbers so it looks like I'm going to go with 66lb high Z's. They're on sale for $53 each from racetronix.

The 50lbers in my truck are definitely 50lb low Z's and I do not have a modded ECU. I was told that anything less than 75lbers didn't need a modded ECU. :dunno:

EDIT: turns out I was wrong. The inj were 50lb high Z's by Siemens

Dont forget that when you change injectors you also have to change your tune to match them :)
But Im sure you know that but just making sure and helpful

I just sent an Email to Nolan (my tune guy) to ask for his final opinion on what to get and give him the heads I'm going to need to retune.

First I'm going to pull the full rail off the truck and look for anything obvious, but before that I'm going to do as Pancakes suggested and put a heat gun to the manifolds and see if I have a lean or fat cylinder that will point more toward injectors. I'm pretty convinced but $350 towards new injectors and still having the same problem would really hurt!

Re: One last shot... Breaking up!

So you had low z 50# injectors in the truck recently and haven't done an ECM mod?

They need more current to flow so could possibly have messed up your drivers already on all the ECMs, or you're not getting the current hence the lean condition.

Have you put the Hi Z 65s in yet? No need to mod the ECM and should run well if it is indeed the injectors.

I got mine from Turbo Time and the truck runs great.

Just buy the damn 65s :D

Someone on here will buy them off you if you sell them on - you're making a $50 loss possibly but I don't think that will be the case.

I've been running the same 50# low Z's in my truck for 4 years now! I have never modded the ECM, never knew I had to. I was fed a lot of wrong information and assumed they were a drop in and re-tune deal. That could very well be my 4 year long headache right there! I'm ordering the 66lb high Z's this week. Wtf! I hope that works!

My :2cents:
I don't think it's going to end up being injectors.... if it was injectors it seems they would show problems during WOT runs, and throughout the AFR Map, not just at certain RPMs... I don't seem to remember your injectors being maxed out on the 'jun14' DM run... but I'm not certain about that. ...check that AFPR ;)

Rob it was based on that 'june 14" DM file that Nolan told me me injectors are maxed out and I can't go any higher with boost if I wanted to run meth or race gas. Either way I have low Z injectors in my truck and my ECM isn't modded for them so I'm going to change them. I am definitely going to take apart the AFPR and check it while I have it all apart.

Well thats good to know. When I was choosing and injector for my build I decided 75's were my best bet. I was told by pretty much every one to stick with lowz. What brand are the 80's? Same as the 75's but 80? Im sure you know what Im getting at.
