We're planning a big Black Friday Chat night.... Day after Thanksgiving.

We would like to see all time zones involved. We'll start at around 8:30 Central, 9:30 EST.
6:30 Pac/7:30Mtn.

Bring your tuning questions.

European nite owls, join in!

The chat link above is the place. Try it beforehand to make sure you know how.

Bring your tuning questions... we'll try to answer. We're working on an upload location for DM/TP files, so we can all work from the same files. There will be experienced people answering in real-time.

See ya there!

Just FYI, the chat dialog can be saved. There is a huge "SAVE" button down at the bottom where you type and it will save everything that has been written so long as you dont log out or close the window.

Logs can easily be sent by email of course, thats what we have been using.

I'm actually looking into setting up some sort of upload area for the event.
You could then paste a web link to it. Like a photobucket, only without all the hassle and stupid banner ads.

There is no way to upload files into chat unfortunately.

Not necessarily.... I'll have to look at the config files again. I think there may be an option to share files like you can with AIM.

I'm not promising anything, but I'll look into it.

Re: Big Black Friday Chat Night

Scratch what I said above. File Sharing is already active in Chat.

Just click the user name in the list and choose "share file." Looks like it's set with a 512kb limit. Is that enough for the files you guys will need to share?

EDIT: To share DM/TunerPro/Etc.... the files will need to be zipped.

If not, admin settings allow a larger upload size. If your CP doesn't show it, it's a simple PHP hack.

we are currently running v4.7.12. It was easier to just rollback the version rather than work out all the bugs in v5.0.11  The control panel of v4 is not nearly as robust.

Hopefully 512 will be enough. Otherwise, Paul will need to add the hack. :rotf:

Agreed. Knowing this ahead of time will hopefully encourage most people to make records of their trucks within that size allowance. 512kb worth of data will get you a good window of almost everything. If not, they can split it up (1 idle record, 1 part throttle, and 1 WOT).

I'll continue to work on the plan B upload for the larger than 512k files. Something tells me that >50 chat users + lots of 512k uploads would make for ugly response time.

FWIW: Flashchat doesn't seem to like Linux. Stuff I typed showed up in the wrong order.

Blame Paul. It's on his box.

It's actually been running pretty good lately. Not sure why it doesn't like Linux. I'll have to add that to my "To Look Into" list.
