I'm ready to sell my truck after almost 20 years of ownership. It's still a bit of a project and its been sitting a really long time. The good news is its never been winter driven since I have owned. It sits in a heated garage. No rust. I would say the paint is a 9 out of 10 and the interior is...
Re: Leaking oil pan
Yeah Im using the steel retainers with the pan. Its not the flat spots that leak its the bottom of the curved spot. I used RTV all the way around. Seals up great except for that spot. I didn't get the pan very tight. Just snug. Its suppose to be torqued to 165 inch/lbs. I...
Well my oil pan is leaking just under the rear main area. I just pulled the front diff out and dropped the pan. I installed a new one piece felpro gasket and used gray RTV. everything seals up nice except its leaking even more from the same spot. I think I have a warped or bent pan in that spot...
I have an oil leak coming from the oil pan right below the rear main. Lots of RTV was used on both sides to seal it up. Maybe too much RTV. The leak only happens after driving for awhile. No leaking from a cold start and letting it idle for 15 minutes.
It had me thinking. Either the oil needs...
Re: convert clicking?
I just put the flexplate in the truck 500 miles ago and it was not cracked. I flexed the flexplate off the converter and I heard no clicking. I dont think its cracked. Its only got 40K miles on that plate.
Re: convert clicking?
Just a follow up on this post. I took the washers out and its smooth as butter now. I still hear the clicking. Not sure if I need to worry about that.
Re: convert clicking?
Cool thanks for the info guys. Im still using the stock converter. Im going to say the washers on the stock converter is not a good idea? The converter is not setting all the way back on the spline. There was play both ways when I installed the washers. I just listened to...
Re: convert clicking?
I hope you are right. Another member on there recommended I do that. Not saying its right or wrong. I did some reading last night. I think I will try to run the truck with the converter disconnected. See if the flexplate still wobbles.
What the H is this all about? I see the flexplate and converter are not running true. I hear some weird metal clicking noises. I personally installed all the flexplate bolts with lock tight. The engine does not even have 500 miles in it. I did use washers to seat the converter back into the...
Transfer case was removed because it was leaking bad. I was checking and filling it periodically with ATF I split the case and sealed it up with RTV. I have not filled it back up with fluid yet. Everything from what I could tell looked really good inside. It has less than 50k miles on it. Im...
