Re: 1992 typhoon nitrious oxide

never posted hope this is the right place if not very sorry bought a 92 typhoon 4 months ago and purchased a nitrious system dry for it but not sure where to mount it on the air box could someone help

I realize that Nos is some really cool stuff. However i will tell you there are tons of mods you can do safely instead of using the giggle gas. These truck are very prone to detonation witch kills engines. Even the most finely tuned ones still have some kock. With the junk pistons that come stock with a SyTy you are asking for trouble using nos. Get a boost controler and a chip open up the exhaust and get a good fuel pump. Do a major tune up and you will make that extra 75 hp no problem. I have been where you are at and this is good advise.

Re: 1992 typhoon nitrious oxide

i agree with everyone else, 2 owners ago my truck had a 50 shot of nitrous, when the truck had very low mileage (35k) almost new still, stock engine and it went kaboom. however that is a big part of how i ended up owning it.

you can almost guarantee it will not last long that way, mine lasted one or 2 passes on the track before it let go.

i wouldn't do it, but if you do you should start looking for a replacement engine now. We aren't joking around you WILL blow it up, regardless of proper install or not. they are not intended for it and will not tolerate it.

Listen to the others who have been there

ummm, not exactly, your truck was FAR from stock when it had the 50 shot on it, in fact I would venture to guess it had been torn down and rebuilt at least 3 times in different stages, before that 50 was installed.

Re: 1992 typhoon nitrious oxide

welcome, and please have somebody record the time you are adding the shot. and post results.
nos and turbo are strangers, you can use them but a 75 shot would become a 150 shot bassicly

If you feel the need to spray something, buy yourself an alky kit. Safer, higher boost, less detonation equals HP.

Re: 1992 typhoon nitrious oxide

Welcome to the SYTY world. Read up as much as you can. The search feature is great to get an idea of whats what.

As far as Nos, I personaly have no help for you. But as for your situation, I am glad you asked before installing. Last thing you want to do is destroy your new toy. Read up as much as you can.

I want every SyTy on the road to be at least showroom performance. I still see one on the road and wonder how fast it is. I own two that are night and day from one another. Best of luck

Re: 1992 typhoon nitrious oxide

From a technical stand point, the reason why a N2O doesn't work on stockish truck is 1 fueling and 2 Overboost due to undersized wastegate. The stock piston/rods are super fragile anywyas and don't take well a slightly out of tune truck, N2O is just going to amplify that problem.

If you use a wet system the air distribution issues show up quickly which cylinders rich/lean. The couple people who have sucess have a custom tune and are using only small shot. To gain 35-45 hp you can gain the HP with Alky kit and custom Code $59 tuning.

If you use a dry sytem, you going to have to fuel it andwill need custom tune. We use a MAP sensor (which measures pressure no air flow) the ECM will have no idea beside intake temps that the N2O is on if you just plug it in. Stock injectors do not have flow capacity.

was just asking for help on putting something on not a bunch of wise ass cracks from some assholes

If you really are a West Va math teacher, it explains a lot about the education there, or the lack of it. Here is a little math for you (Sy or Ty) + NO2 = KaBoom + Idiot

Poconojoe beat me to it. Considering his claimed occupation (and my respect for "good" teachers), you would think that he would at least known what he bought. Reading this site should be a requirement for any future buyers. You really should know what you are buying. Most people research a new car purchase and any potential SyTy owner should know as well.

Hoping that the guy is still reading this post... If you had read any of the basics on this site (that is full of members with great knowledge and experience with these trucks and will go out of their way to HELP) you would have already known that there is a simple mathematical formula. SyTy + NO2 ='s engine failure.

Start reading. Plain and simple. You will be able to educate yourself and would then realize that nitrous is not the way to go. You would also realize that the comments made (no matter what your interpetation of them is) were made in an effort to help you see the light because with NOS it will be lights out for you.

I'll stand second in line to buy your truck when you blow it up. I already have a transplant waiting for a home.

Re: 1992 typhoon nitrious oxide

I see this kind of scenario quite a bit with my dyno. Someone buys X brand of vehicle and wants to put Y brand of part on. Asks my advice, then ignores me and does it anyway. The look on their face when it makes less power is priceless.:rotf: I learned long ago you can try and help most people the best you know how. But don't get too attached to them actually listening or doing what you know it right. Let them grenade the motor. He can gain experience doing engine swaps in the process. So his Sy Ty ownership experience is educational, and costly. Will in turn sell it to another car guy who might, just might be able to bring it back from the dead and make all of us Sy Ty owners proud.

Re: 1992 typhoon nitrious oxide

up date on my typhoon had to replace tranny and the fuel pump calipers rotors brake lines. the typhoon runs great to be stock found some vacum leaks on the intake when i fixed them the turbo only boosts around 13lbs now before it was pegging out the boost gauge over 15lbs but now nomore than 13lbs is this normal? getting it painted this week. im gonna have the valve seals replaced should i replace the rocker arms? i got a friend who has a grandnational and he says im supposed to replace the rockerarms at 150000 miles on these is that true? im new to typhoons only had this one since april always wanted on i picked this one up from the second owner it has 162000 miles on it only mod is flowmaster muffler till i put the compucar nitruos system on it ive hit it 7 times and with 80hp shot feels good but leaving it alone for now. thinking of giving this to my 15yr old son he is really wanting it. but does anyone know where you can get bigger turbos and headers and chips for these at ive looked on internet cant seem to find anyone selling aftermarket mods for these ive been reading posts on these. might be willing to trade it for a grandnational if i cant find any companys selling stuff for these.
