The compnine data we crunched a few years ago shows the first 28 were built at Shreveport on 1/7/91 which was a Monday. It wasn't until Feb 26 that they were built on any day other than a Monday.
The production at Shreveport on Mondays was this:
1/7 = 28
1/14 = 65
1/21 = 88
2/11 = 146
2/18 = 146
2/25 = 41
My WAG is that the early Syclones were built at Shreveport under the supervision of management from Detroit and possibly PAS until the workers were familiar with, and experienced with the special steps unique to a Syclone. Picking a single day per week made it possible for these managers to travel and be present. Once the workers learned to build them, Syclones were built randomly among the other S-series Shreveport built.
It is cool that it's 25 years old. And still a POS.
Time flies when you're having fun. I've owned mine for 13 years. I believe I can get classic car insurance on a 20 year old vehicle, meaning it won't be a daily driver, but insurance is fairly low. The cut off for emission tests is 1988 or older.
I've had "collector car" insurance on my Sy since I bought it. Seems to vary a bit from just under to just over $300.00 / year. No smog because of where I have it registered.
I believe the PA Antique rules say you have to be over 25 years old from the production year. Which means the trucks aren't eligible until Jan 1 of 2017
Steve, this is true. If you remember you got this information from me.:woot: :bday:
In PA, you can now get Antique Plates (which eliminates annual inspection)
Who has the earliest VIN on the board?
Your interpretation is incorrect. The 1991 GMC Syclone was eligible Friday, Jan 1, 2016.I believe the PA Antique rules say you have to be over 25 years old from the

Ah…you doubt the information you were given. Thanks for your vote of confidence. As with most government docs, the definition is vague, but I think you're right:I believe the PA Antique rules say you have to be over 25 years old from the production year. Antique Motor Vehicle - A motor vehicle, but not a reproduction thereof, manufactured more than 25 years prior to the current year which has been maintained in or restored to a condition which is substantially in conformance with manufacturer specifications.
Classic Motor Vehicle - A motor vehicle, but not a reproduction thereof, manufactured at least 15 years prior to the current year which has been maintained in or restored to a condition which is substantially in conformity with manufacturer specifications and appearance.

Not only does it eliminate PA State Safety Inspection but also PA State Emissions and you have a permanent registration that does not need annual renewal. The savings from all three annual fees by far outweighs the cost of the plate and new registration which is a one time expense. $75.00 for the Antique plate and $51.00 for the certificate of title registration fee. PA Form MV-11 It takes about 3 weeks to get your antique plate and registration from the state from when they receive your form and your payment clears.

My PA Antique plate and PA Antique permanent registration came today for my Syclone.
Anyone else get one too?
Don't take it personally, dude. I forget shit every day.
Damn, that means I'm closing in on 25 years old. Time flies.
On the topic of PA antique plates, my dad's Syclone was due for inspection back in September. Now that it's eligable for AP's, will I still need to get it inspected for them to issue the new plates, or does past due inspection not matter?
You are good.. Just need the title, that form MV-11 and a check. (OR) You can go to a tag place and do it too they will fill it out for you and send a courier to Harrisburg for a fee of about $35. extra. Real easy that way. My truck had expired inspection also.
Don't be shocked when they take your actual title. You have to give it to them. You get a new one issued from the state that says Antique. You will get a new plate, registration in one envelope and the title in another. Don't have to worry about inspection after that or registration. It is all permanent (for PA anyway).
