Run a stock 4l80e and try to blow it up. Then if you do, drop in a built one. You will already have the adapter and shaft for the built one, if you need it.

Thats what I have done.. Just need to finish my cladding so that I can get it inspected and try to blow the 80e up..

Ymmv but you can pull one at the Jyard for 100 or I have seen rebuilt 80e s for 1750 with a no excuses 3 yr 36k warranty...
