I bet even DaveP had never seen anything close to this.

I knew there was a crack on the bottom side of tcase, but when I dropped it I found a lot more welding stitches then I could imagine.

So I need a new tcase, there's no way to fix this one. Fk.

I just wonder - WHY? There's simply no explanation IMO.:squint:

Wow. That is horrific. Either something came off and it exploded in the gears or someone tried to reassemble one and didn't do it properly and it exploded.

Like you say, pretty nasty there!

Ouch - good pics.

I wonder is there any chance that output shaft is okay. :(

I have a spare TC unit that I would let go of but I think the shipping costs would refute reality :(

Thanks. Maybe I'll have to buy it in US anyway, because we don't have much of these here.
If you could strip tail housing, front cover, driven sprocket and shaft off her it would save a lot of weight for airfreight.
I need to think about it.

That's pretty bad. Looks like a hack tried to fix it for next to nothing.

I have seen alot of (we can fix it,we can make better then new, but in real life.) I would have to say they fail here.

That's pretty impressive! Even some of the links on the chain are welded. Looks to me like the planetary came apart and made a mess of things. Someone with a welder was pretty determined to get that tc back together and they succeeded! I also notice that the tc has possibly engine oil and not atf was used. I guess you were running full time four wheel drive. Good luck with the t case, maybe you can find one near you.

HOLLY DAMN!!!!!

Maybe between a couple of Bravada cases and that one you might be able to piece a good one together. Good luck, that thing is one hell of a HOTT MESS!!!!!!

the fact that it ever worked again at all was amazing, like, so much so that I would have been proud of it.

Somebody spent a lot time "fixing" that T-case... They must be really hard to come by if that much effort was put forth in an attemept to salvage it. Holly Damn!!

Those guys were just trying to save money. And same $hit is all over my truck.

Do you have that guys #? I have leaking valve covers and the oil drain plug leaking he could fix for me.

Re: Check out my TC internals. 18+

That is impressive that actually worked for any sort of time.

Please take no offense. That's Third-World Country stuff right there. No replacement parts available, do what you have to do.

The viscous clutch is not there. The front output gear is welded to the shaft. Those extra splines are where the V-clutch should be. I also don't see any planetary gears. The rear half of the carrier is there, but I don't see the gears. I also don't see the outer ring gear. It had to have been there. But without a V-clutch to position it, how did they do it? So this case blew up, and they either welded it back together as a full-time 4-wheel drive case, or as a AWD case with the planataries intact, but it sure would have had a propensity to spin the rears.

I have no idea how many miles it lasted in this condition, but when you get your truck working again with a properly functioning T-case, you will be amazed at the difference.

You're absolutely right. DaveP has never seen anything like this. And to think we (U.S.A.) now rely on your country (Russia) for Space Transportation to the ISS is pretty scary in light of this kind of stuff..... Hopefully the guys that worked on that T-case don't also work on the Proton Missile system.
Hope you can obtain the parts for the repair at reasonable cost,
DaveP

[hijack]At least the Proton doesn't carry passengers to the ISS. They use the Soyuz for that, but it's still Russian, so... And It's technically a rocket, not a missile.[/hijack]

Honestly it reminds me of some of the repairs I've seen pics of on the 50's era cars in Cuba. Make it work one way or another. At least it todays world it's easy to have parts shipped from the US to you.
