Ive been talking to some of the future coordinators of SyTy Nats 2004, and I dont think we are moving our event. We are staying in KC at the Double Tree Hotel.

Now, before anyone gets the idea of trying to bitch at me...dont. this decision is NOT final, its just something that has been considered... and this is not solely my decision.... im just the message sender...

you think people would be down for a larger event but i guess not seems to me the s-series guys are sonw for a weekend of camping and partying and the sy ty guys are older and not wanting to party just hang in a hotel parking lot

hey ibanez... have you ever been to the syty nats?

if not, i suggest you get off the soap box with the criticism.

im tired of this subject and everyones shitass opinion. Fuck it. If you want to have the events combined so bad, get off your lazy ass and do something about it. Let me know, i'll give you a run down of what needs to be satified for the SyTy'ers. If you think you can do soooooo much better, step up to the plate and take a swing buddy... i mean, its just that simple right?

im sorry i ever mentioned combining the two nats together in my previous post in this forum.

Sorry for being direct and a little harsh, but thats the reality of the whole thing. Big Talk, No Action.

I'll let it stand at that, and this will be my last post on this topic.

IF any of this shit even remotely gets a spark of life, the only thing I can suggest for 2004 is to keep the events seperate, but perhaps maybe on the same weekend???

just a thought. discuss.

no disussion, thats what should be done, cause it would solve everything and stop the argument of combining the events.

i agree with morgan.

ok, well there is still going to be discussion on the SyTy Nats end of it, since the date/location/organizers/ect ect seem to change every year.

The syty community needs to want to keep the event in KC, not Vegas, Cali, Chicago, Texas, West Bumblefuck or anyplace eles, thats step 1. Then to agree to the date of mid-June, since that seems to change every damn year also, thats step 2. Everything else can be sorted out later.

Perhaps Gavic, Adam, Marty, and those who do/have done the down and dirty work could see this as an opportunity to make the "racing events" come together and bigger.

Auto-X has come up alot on this board, but I thing the cost for the insurance, ect is way to high for our small group. If we work together with the S-Series guys, the larger group could afford to do it.

Same with the track, I know the weather played a big part in what happened in Chicago last year, and this year at the S-Series nats they double booked on top of us. If we combine registration fees on that also, it would be more affordable for BOTH groups. Oh, and on that note, there was a truck at S-Series nats that was faster than anything I saw at '02 SyTy Nats, so dont think there is no competition.

I personally dont even care about the magazine coverage, thats just a perk of the whole deal.

I have a lot of thouhts on how this could actually happen and I would be more than happy to speak with anyone on the phone about them after the Nats. Just let me know. If not, Ill drop it.

Just a heads up to everyone (being the other 1/2 of the issue) I actually requested in the mod areas on a couple of forums (mine and SSF) that this subject be left alone for the time being until you guys make it through your 2k3 event, and actually cancelled out on a float trip we had been planning so I could show up and check out this years event and maybe get to talk to all of the coordinators, and get a feel for what the actual attitude towards the idea first hand rather than just trying to read between the lines in threads like this...

I can honestly say I don't see things meshing smoothly and that was my main concern from the get go...

we are a young event and are still getting our roots dug in we are still building our leagacy, so pretty much anything goes with us as a group, and we have a good time doing it... i understand that your event is set with a bit of a routine and would not want to stray to far from what has come to be expected from an established event like sy/ty nats... Same as I, I would not be willing to change too much about what we have done in the last 2yrs...

I would have rather actually attended, partied, and discussed things a bit before i formed an opinion that i was going to stick with...
but it looks like from this point opinions are going to fly and probably head further downhill...

all things considered this ship was sunk before it ever had a chance to leave port...

it was a thought, I still plan to swing in to check things out if I am still welcome...

Sorry to be so P.C. but I am not about to draw more tension to this mess with my full thoughts...

You know I am with you on this morgan, if you think it could be pulled off I have an open ear.

separate but same weekend would be a lot easier to deal with and something to consider...

That is my thought also.....

Same weekend in KC, we rent the track together, split that cost, Have a HUGE cruise night one night, make some new friends etc. etc...

Maybe even have a SY/TY vs. S-10 shoot out ????

If there are SY/TY peeps that want to camp with the S-10 crowd thats cool,
Same with the S-10 peeps that may want a hotel room......

I think we can make this work........

I am teh kingpin!
i'm not all about camping, its a vacation for me so i want to have a nice place to sleep.

I am all about havin any many trucks, people and good times.

have the s-series guys do there thing, have us do our thing. then at night we all meet up and say whats up and party.

GM TURBO

Sell Out
Yep - If there are people who want to save some coin and camp - that could be an option. We can extend our hotel pricing to the S-Series guys who want to have a nice soft bed to sleep it.

I know where I am partying and I know where I am going to sleep (for a couple hours anyway).

too bad the S-Series guys couldn't have camped at Great Bend.
I think some of the 'squitos there were carrying off tools and tents...

Hotel is mandatory, as is a SHOWER.

I agree on the share the track, do it on the same weekend, cruise together whatever, but it still needs to be the SyTy Nats and the S-Series Nats.

Hopefully we get on planning early for next year so there are no date changes or doubts that make people unable to attend.

99 - 00 we had close to or over 100 SyTys each year so a bigger event is definitely possible.

I think that you have a complete understanding of what it takes to get this train rolling in the right direction.

I also think that the right people are interested in working together for a peacefull coexistance.

I also believe and I don't think that there will be anybody to disagree that you need to make concessions on both sides to even hold the events in the same place & time.

We've held 3 events in KC and 2 in other places (but within 500 miles of KC) so we know that people will travel to the Center of the US to attend the Nats. We also know from experience that KC is capable of supporting our even and we have friendly connections.

Our dates have fluctuated with time...some with success and some to a lesser degree. Maybe it's possible that the SyTy'rs could be flexible on the date / time group.

Don't give up on this...plan now...get it ironed out now...if you put this together now (have I mentioned now yet?) Magazines will come. Magazines & attendeess will flock as they have a mark on their wall. Start pushing for deposits for reg fees...If you build it they will come.
