Re: Fiberglass Front Fenders with Cladding

Do it!!!! There are plenty of folks on here that would rather pay $350-400 for a molded fiberglass cladding equipped fender that looks OEM v/s a metal fender and $450 piece of brittle cladding that will eventually break and require fixing or replacement. Maybe this will influence some OEM cladding holders to not be so greedy ;).

exactly whats needed- couldn't agree more
they still need to do rear bumper corners

Re: Fiberglass Front Fenders with Cladding

Thanks for the replys, thats a lot of interest. I'll see about scheduling some down time with my truck to dissasemble front end. Will take pics as we go, and when finished. Then anyone interested can call them guys up and order a pair. Oh yeah, will have stock cladding pieces for sale when done!

Re: Fiberglass Front Fenders with Cladding

I've called Jose twice recently to see if he was gonna make these but no answer. It's good to hear that they're gonna be made, count me in. I just hope I can use my Mastercard to buy them from him. I know he's on E- bay so I should.

Re: Fiberglass Front Fenders with Cladding

Cracker and I stripped front end off truck today. My Wife is due any day and figured I wouldn't need truck for next week or so. Dropped fenders with cladding and bumper off with Jose to make molds.

Ran into a few question marks, I am not planning on using an inner structure, so the inner fender wells will be gone. We will lose the abs, cruise and other misc parts. The oil filter remote will eventually be gone, but not for now, so will need to build a bracket. The other issue is hood mounting. Currently it attaches to the fenders which we will duplicate. My concern is strength, we made need a metal insert for the hood to bolt too. Also the fenders locate the core support and not sure of glass strength to hold this. I will be the guinea pig...

Jose did say there is a company he builds escalade fenders for that supplies him with cheap Taiwan fenders. He cuts outer skin off and grafts his glass to it for strength and component mounting. I'm not going that route, I want the weight savings.

So that's where it's at, pics will go up next week and I'll start driving it to see if I can break the new skins.

Re: Fiberglass Front Fenders with Cladding

I had posted the following in the thread on my fiberglass bed:

http://www.syty.net/forums/showthread.php?t=87874

Hi All, sorry I haven't been up here sooner, been too busy as of late. Jose will build me fenders as soon as I can find time to have truck out of commission for a few days to build molds. Not sure how soon I can have that done. He is also asking how many people would be interested in them besides me. Should I start a new thread to gauge interest?

Fenders will not have inner structure and cladding will be integrated one piece. They will be finished in black gel coat. I will be having the front bumper made as well for those interested.

Jose is interested in building the molds if there are at least 10 persons interested. I think there are, but wanted to be sure. I think the price was 350-375 for a pair of fenders in glass. (Plus shipping/handling if needed)

Count me in for a bed and front fenders.

Re: Fiberglass Front Fenders with Cladding

I started taking my car apart today for paint prep so my interest is heightened. I am a little concerned about losing the inner structure though. I wouldn't mind losing the inner fender that the abs and fluid tanks bolt to but I wouldn't want to lose the ability to run without wheel wells, Am i understanding that this would be the case no wheel wheel and no inner fender? Anyway I am still interested and if the fenders don't end up working for my needs I would still be interested in cladding. Thanks for making these alternatives available.

Unfortunately, I think you're right. Two and a half months with no updates. I was really looking forward to these since the cladding on both of the fenders on my Ty is broken.
