Here's the next question we are going to answer

Re: Here's the next question we are going to answer

my guess is, lowest red and highest black are going to cross paths hundreds of trucks apart

When I got #1902 it had red letters.

0182 - black. Pretty sure stock

2031 - black as well

Well, this would've been a close marker - 1902 to 2031 close to the breaking point (and well beyond the halfway point, making black letters somewhat rare). But that 182 throws a wrench into it. How sure are you that 182 is stock black?

Based on the video of the trucks rolling out of the factory however, appears it could've been random parts bin stuff too.

So did Syclone's come stock with Black? Mine had red letters when I took ownership but have since changed it to black.

You're confused Steve. Early 92's had black. Later had red. #2031 is waaaaay past where red is known to have been used, so #2031 must be an outlier, and has been changed to Black. Even if it hasn't been changed, it's still an outlier statistically, and has to be omitted from the results.

You're right...I was. I see that by your list. Clear now. Thanks.

I'm assuming someone else (Jimmy) already did this, I started the other night but got bored, but yeah... how about checking all of the pictures that are available on Sportmachines?

Thats why I made my earlier post about the colors crossing paths, because there were numerous red letter grills mixed in with black ones early on. I understand there is no proof of authenticity but its something to reference.

Likewise, I know there have been owners who have gone and sourced the black letters for their trucks, so who knows what is what anymore.

I've looked at all the pics. Pretty sure the change was in the 1500 range. Won't be able to prove that of course, but I bet we can get real close .

That's how I figured no Aspens were over VIN 1000. Just basic deduction and build dates.

I have photos of 1734 with black letters. No idea if they're original, photos are from 2012.

Also have photos of 1886 with black letters, also no idea on originality.

1908 also has black letters in some 2010 photos.

:popcorn2:

The plot thickens. It's appearing that both black AND red may have been available in the bin for a while (crossover). If ^^ these are legit. That would also explain the video from TRUCKIN'.
