How to hinge pins out?

How do I get these hinge pins out? Checked every where for videos or instructions....I think there is a retainer in there and have pounded the heck out of with with no luck.

Looks like rust might be an issue ;) I pulled a set of pins and bushings from a truck in a wrecking yard around here. I can't remember if there was a retaining clip of some sort or not, but was able to hammer the pins out without too much effort. The bushings were a little more challenging to remove without breaking, but can send 'em to you if you want them. I probably won't use them on my truck.

Yea this tailgate is shot, got a nice one from TBone to replace it. So you are saying I should be able to hammer them out and nothing holding them in?

There are retainer clips on the pointy end. You hammer them out from the pointy end.

The part in the red square is not there....I assume this is the retaining clip. So it should just pound out.

Correctamundo. If the clip isn't there, hit it with a hammer. You might wanna lift up on the tailgate slightly (like you are closing it) as you hammer it out so it is not binding it from the weight of the gate. A shot of WD-40 a few minutes prior to the pounding wouldn't hurt either. Also, you will have to unbolt the small tensioner bar before removing the pins (you may have already done that).

I put about 4 gallons of WD-40 and KY Jelly and finally they banged out. They were so solid in there I just wanted to make sure something wasn't holding them in and banging on it did nothing. Thanks for the help all!
