you could get rid of the entire ac bracket with this mod, cleans up the motor and works good, prolly good for about 10-15 pounds off the front end

that is on a 350 but the 4.3 is the same, i thought i had the part number for the belt but i guess not, ill try and find it for you guys

I really think the belt would slip on the waterpump pulley....almost no contact area. RPM makes a kit that will do away with the bracket.

I'm with phil on this one, I dont think the WP would work at all.

Re: My Lightweight Syclone

there are plenty of people on blazinlow running this set up with zero problems

the guy that came up with the idea ran it on his 4.3 for almost 3 years and its not on his built v8 with no cooling problems

if you didnt get the belt tight enough yes it could slip and that exactly what i thought but the guy said make sure you get ti tight and you will have no problems

also what parts of the exhaust has to be redone?

Re: My Lightweight Syclone

i understant that, but i still cant see what would be in the way of the cross over pipe

on the pass side of the block you are removing a bracket giving more clearance and on the drivers side you leave the stock brakces where they are and make a small tensioner to raise one side of the alt up about 2"

maybe im missing something but i dont see how that would interfere with the exhaust

Re: My Lightweight Syclone

Just another idea if you already havent done it is the air compressor for the rear leveling stock shocks.

Roof rack delete.

Alot of people overlook even the smallest things: Loose change, things in the glove box, etc.

Also dont forget to take a dump before you race :D

I tried that....some people told me not too, but I tried it anyway....it works but there's not enough support for the alternator...if you pull on the alternator, there is too much flex where you put your makeshift bracket....also, the belt flutters around like when you stretch a thick rubberband into a high wind....like I said, it works but I didnt have any peace of mind while running it....as quick as these motors can rev up, the belt has to be slipping on the waterpump at least a little.....you can reach down and turn the waterpump pulley if you really try.....not a good idea for a syty imo....

Re: My Lightweight Syclone

Depends on how far you want to push the limit, and how mush noise you are willing to put up with, Cut the crash bars out of the doors 35 lbs per door, Non Abs hubs minor but it helps, Remove headline and carpet replace with work truck pieces rubber mats about 30 lbs, replace seats with early 2004 corvette pieces (aluminum frames) 60lbs. If you remove the a/c pull the dash and get the non a/c heater box about 10lbs, remover the foglams and all wiring, switch to air to air, aluminum block there are lots of Brackets under the frame that arent needed. Parking brake system complete about 30lbs (inc pedal.)

Re: My Lightweight Syclone

some may have already covered this but I found and am now using this 15lb battery from odyssey. shaves about 30lbs off the weight and can be turned sideways. has 680 ca and 280cca. plenty of juice for our low compression motors.

as you can also see they have adaptors for using completly stock cables and you can even do a K&N right over top of it without relocating anything.

What was the part number for the Oddesey Battery posts you are useing. I checked summit they have somthing listed, but no pict or discription. By the way, that is the smartest set up for non battery relocation I have seen yet. Especially for all us stockers out there. I am going to do this on my truck. I have been trying to find ways of making the truck lighter without removing anything...this is perfect. 30lbs is better than nothing.

Re: My Lightweight Syclone

that is what i am running but mine is relocated in the bed in a sealed box laying on its side. The battery is tiny and really really light compared to a stocker.

I have had no problems with it starting the truck. but don't let it sit over a month or it will die down a little and not have enough to crank the truck.

Re: My Lightweight Syclone

will that battery fit in a relocation kit or do you have to fabricate your own to put it lower in the wheel well, under the intake???
