I went back to the discount website and noticed that they have the same part number for both the 13 and 20 gallon tank. I have sent their customer service an e-mail asking what the deal is.

if you are really into hack and slash there is a fiberglass dash thatll fit holding most size standard gauges (i prefer defi') it looks very modern and I still cant consider ripping out that 1of a kind dash

Anyone have any info on this dash...

The only thing that bugs me is they state it's not for a 4x4. Not sure what that means. Here's a pic of it:

Hood, is that what yours looks like? Looks like the 20 gallon tank to me. I thought the 13 gallon tank didn't have the front portion of it? Maybe it's a stock photo used for all tanks. $98.95 with straps + shipping.

i did this conversion a while back....except for i removed the inner baffle (major PIA) , sumped the tank and installed a larger return....waller has a thread with good comparison pics of both...hth

Looking in the jc whitney catalog, they have both 13 & 20 gallon tanks in plastic if memory serves me right. Can't sump them like a normal tank, but I'm sure if you could figure out what type of plastic it is, you could still sump it.

If I recall correctly the 13 gallon tanks came on all base model short bed trucks with the 4cyl & 2.8 V6.

It wasn't online, it was in the normal crap paper catalog they send you when you order shit from them. (I know, I know, but I needed a cheap car cover for my parts car). It was for the Jimmy. around $180.00. I'll see if I can't dig up the mag, I've got it around here somewhere, just got to find it in all the mess from moving.

Depending on where you live I would check Pick-A-Part or Ecology auto wrecking yards. Of these two Pick-A-Part is the cheapest. Ecology will nickel & dime you to death by charging for each part (Including nuts & bolts) like it's GOLD If you go on Pick-A-Part wed site they have half price days too, just about every month.

ANd no i didnt buy the mag for the sy I had a mzd b2000

i really dont'think the dash itself would be of much weight savings, i've pulled a few for earlier style 1st gen, and i would guess the shell itself only weighs 5 pounds or so. All the wiring, ducting, and crap behind it is where all the weight is at.

i got my ty to weigh 2750 w/o gas or water for the IC. power windows, stereo, stock back seat, stock dash, all glass, F&R metal bumpers, all stock interior panels. Only fiberglass part is the hood.

Metal Tailgate Straps - switch to Cable (plus no more noise)

Do you have any pictures? I've got some tailgate straps but they appear shorter than the stock metal brackets. Also, the end that attaches to the tailgate is "riveted" on there. How'd you do that end?

ABS extras (wiring, sensors, etc...)

How easy was it to remove the tone rings from the front hubs?

Oil cooler lines (filter adapter replaced with standard 4WD S-Series adapter)

Can you snap a couple of pics?

One other thing........when I snatched the AC, I replaced the wiring subharness with one from a heater only S10 (then later removed it alltogether when the heater came out). While the difference in weight is only a few wires, it really aids in cleanliness. It wasn't easy to get to though.

Did you just unplug everything or cut the wires?

I'm going through the same process right now of removing anything that doesn't contribue to speed. I think the dash may come out to remove the last cruise control wiring that goes to the drac. Since I have no more heater core or blower motor I'm thinking of pulling all the duct work that's behind the dash as well.

Carpet should be coming out to remove all the underpadding, need to find a clean way to cover where the jack used to be. I've got all the rear wiring/ABS stuff removed, the only thing left is the front sensors and possibly tone rings if they are easily removable.

Hey Mike, you said your truck weighs 3180 with you? How much do you weigh or how much is your truck by itself?

I weighed mine last night at OSW and came in at 3050 by itself. I still have the stock hood, rear brakes, gas tank, and full interior. I know there's another 100 pounds to get rid of.

Chrome Moly driveshaft safety loops.

Use of exotic materials throughout.

Two piece rotors w/ aluminum hat saves weight and unsprung mass.

A lot of folks are probably thinking that why bother and just spend the money on raising engine power instead, but if you think beyond a drag race mentality, you will realize overall better handling, better braking and possibly better fuel economy as well.
