Renz...

YEP I WAS AT THE NATIONALS (can dig up the photos of me and the Typhoon if you need them)! Nope, it wasn't running.

Can't reply to all your questions today, (due to my medical condition).

Later.

I attended Nats 11 after not going for many years. ( i have attended 3) I had a great time, got along with pretty much everyone and met a lot of new people.

If I out of all people can have fun at the event, everyone can.

I think it was well ran also. Is there room for improvement? of course, there always is, but I believe it is and has been heading in the right direction.

Now to get it located back in the midwest and I will be happy!

Also, I was there with Larry, we got there while everyone was at the Museum.

Re: NATS 2011 needs your help!

ok...i've gotten a couple pm's of people willing to help...and only 1 person has offered to be chairperson - Mr. TJ "phoonty".

I was kind of hoping/expecting there would be more interested people just to make things more interesting.

I personally know TJ would put his heart into it and have no qualms with him heading up a western nats. Does anyone else have issues. TJ has helped on many things over the years, both graphically and manual labor style. He's got my vote.

I am curious as to why there isn't more interest in general in this though.

I'd help, but I don't fit a lot of those descriptions. Mainly the ownership. I'm also not 100% sure I'm capable, I'd like to think I am, but I'm just not sure.

I did once order a complete set of prototype parts at 1/2 scale because I didn't pay attention to that particular detail......Wondering what else I might miss here. My luck it would be lunch on Saturday or something like that!

I would have spoken up and offered to be heavily involved a long time ago, but our lives are in such a state of flux right now that I'm not willing to say I could be relied on, only to have things fall apart due to things happening in our lives.

I can sure help TJ in whatever way he sees fit, and will give it my all. I just can't commit to being 'the dude'.

I would volunteer if the Nats location was closer (like when it was in BG) or if I had more time. It would be really hard to put an event together being 1000 miles away. Renz....I really don't know how you pulled it off. You did a great job!

TJ....if I can help at all just let me know.

it would have been easier to be local, thats for sure. There was a lot of stuff at the hotel waiting for me when i got there  Lots of time on the phone, lots of email correspondence...in the end its not THAT much different being far away - it just means you gotta trust shipping will happen as planned. Thankfully, it did. My job woulda been way tougher without some locals helping out though...thats for sure.

Again, it's far from a 1 person job. I didn't single handedly organize/run NATS...i was just the frontrunner. Now its someone elses turn to show up NATS 11!

Re: NATS 2011 needs your help!

I think a lot of people were scared off by the necessary qualifications. I've hosted a few 100+ car carshows out here, but doubtful any had the involvement needed for something like this. I don't know if there is any desire to have the event out in Illinois, but I know a few guys at Route 66 Raceway in Joliet as well as a few members at Autobahn Countryclub. If you wanted I could make some calls, and see if they would have any interest in hosting.

I can't toss my hat into the ring as 1) I don't nearly meet the qualifications, and 2) With everything else I have going on, I couldn't put in the necessary 100% needed. I am willing to help out in whatever way I can. Let me know, if it means harassing local speed shops for vendors/donations so be it.

wasn't trying to fend people away w/ the qualifications...just didn't want some unknown noob to try to step up to the plate and then wonder why he wasn't allowed. The qualifications are more like justifications...a little notariety and background on the boards is important, as is capacity to give the necessary time dedication.

Has there been a decision where the location of Nats is going to be?
