Reno and Houston are hotter than two mice screwing in a wool sock too.

 LOL...I love Tennessean sayings.

Reno would be hot, but not if we're in a PARTICULAR WAREHOUSE for most of the time, and even I would attempt to make THAT trip!! I think that could be very attractive to out-of-region people, ifyouknowwhatImean. ;)

Dallas, Tx would keep is kinda central US. I would eliminate houston and san antonio because they are so far south.
I can't think of anywhere in the west that will not be hot in the summer.

I wouldn't consider Texas or Colorado "western". There more central and about 20hrs from the far west or east

I would be flying if it was on the West Coast, so I chose them all.

Ryan so i guess you dont mind going with out your truck?

5800 miles, 88 hours of driving to Cali, and back, I wont mind at all:rotf:. Homecoming will be close enough to drive to. I would fly out for the week and sight see and then go to NATS.

Re: Nats 2011! Western Poll

Anywhere but Vegas. Vegas is 4-1/2 hours for me, which for a guy that attends local events in Miami, is synonymous with a drive to the corner market. But I hate that town. Expensive, smoking allowed pretty much everywhere, and if you're off the strip, it's full of low-life and dirty poverty. Jeff Vegas.

Reno is a neat city. It's grown a lot, but still the "Biggest Little City in the World". I agree, land a visit to a certain collection in near-by Sparks, and you'll triple attendance.

I also voted for Denver. A little more central, which is desirable. It can be driven to in 18 hours from any point west of the Mississippi River. I don't know what the facilities are like, but there are a few local members that may be able to be persuaded to do advance work. I'm not sure that exists in all the other locations.

Thanks for inviting input. Dave

the fact is CA isn't very active on the board...and holding an event out that way will require more publicizing effort than strictly via this forum. Which is fine - but further reason to get with the planning asap so that we can make everyone out there aware of what is coming their way!

If it comes out this way, I will certainly try my best to let everyone know. I know atleast 5 people would be coming with me.

Re: Nats 2011! Western Poll

I would love to say Houston or San Antonio just because it's my local. But the reality is it's extremely hot in Texas in August. And it ain't no fricken dry heat either. It's a wrench your shirt out every 15 seconds, can't breathe, wish you were in a pool that wasn't your own sweat WET kind of heat. I had to say Denver. I think it'll be the most comfortable and give the most people a chance to make it kind of location if your thinking a western kind of location. Sorry Texans.....but you know as well as I do you dont' even want to check your mail in August..... :)
