According to your map - we've done Kansas. We've done Kentucky. Guess we're going to Utah.

I think the purpose of the poll was to see where the most people would travel to go to nats, not to find the center of the regions.

Truckless. For now.

:stupid:

The goal of Nationals is to get high truck attendance to check out each others' trucks.

History speaks for itself as to who attends a nationals event and where the trucks come from. Look at the forums and see what regions of the US have consistent high attendance at regional meets. FAST/GAST and NASTE win, hands down. They are on the east coast.

It would be killer to see an event in the west that can pull 40 plus trucks, but it hasn't happened yet that I'm aware of. We are hoping that moving it further west will give a chance for that to happen, but if it's beyond reach of the most active members, it makes it that much harder to get the word out to create a big event.

That's why this poll is "Where would you attend" . . . Not "what's the best central location."

Re: Nats 2011! Western Poll

Everyone who is posting and so concerned with distance needs to remember... Nats 12 is next year, 2011. The reason we've moved it to every other year is to allow anyone who wants to attend time to save up the funds and plan for time off so it's not so big a financial burden.

If everyone starts saving up now, they shouldn't have any problem attending where ever Nats 12 is held.

I didn't catch that the first time around and it is a good bit of information that shouldn't go unnoticed. My votes still remain the same but phoonTy makes a very good point about saving for a bi-annual event easier than saving for an annual event if planned accordingly.

That's funny My Grandparents are from Lebonan KS Center of the US. Its beyond a small town. I would be down with the Denver Meeting, Bandimere Speedway is a awesome racetrack, plus we could do some canyon runs up to Blackhawk, or catch a Rockies game?

plus by moving it around, people should realize that if its relatively close to you this time, it most likely won't be all that close to you for another 4-6yrs as it hops around the country. This should give everyone even more motivation to make it to the one thats only a 10hr drive, rather than a 25hr drive away.

i'm currently in GA, drove down here in 11hrs (730mi) from 6:30pm to 5:30am on thursday night. it was nowhere near as much fun as ANY caravan to NATS/homecoming that i've been a part of. NATS is a blast, always has been...but, as i'm sure many will attest....the drive TO nats is also part of the fun. 10-15 hr drives go by pretty quickly when done right, and can be a lot of fun in itself. even when someone breaks down it just adds to the adventure. if you haven't road tripped to NATS before...you really should do it at least once just to experience the fun.

I like the idea of it moving around every year. Makes it easier to let everyone experience a NATS.

or catch a Rockies game?

Nats is too much fun. There is NO way you are going to want to leave and catch a game. Just an FYI, so now you have to show up to make sure I am not pulling your leg. Read some of the posts about Nats 11 and the 2008 Homecoming. Check out the pics for Nats 11. Where else are you going to see 2 site famous guys flying thru the air with disregard to all, to land in a row of bushes or see the results of a faceplant with a cigar being the cause. Happy reading and make sure you plan accordingly.

As much as I love baseball and would love to catch a Rockies game I agree 1000% with turboj91. You need to go to Nats once to understand. Its always a blast!

Re: Nats 2011! Western Poll

Couple of thoughts.

Reno/Tahoe was a really cool venue for car stuff. HAN was a blast, the cruise from Tahoe to Reno, super-cool. It's a bit western biased, but like everybody said, the people that come will come wherever it is.

Denver would also be really cool. People would gripe about the altitude, but it effects everybody the same, and there's a lot of stuff in the area. Plus, there's a large number of locals to help with the organizing.
Weather would be pleasant.

Vegas has *too* much stuff going on. A Hoover dam photo-op would rock, but I'd rather not deal with the place, personally.

I think the weeding-down should be between Reno and Denver. It's a toss-up between them, as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Nats 2011! Western Poll

Just throwing this out to think about... how about southern Oregon, maybe Eugene? This would pull the NW and Western Canada guys, most of the Cali guys, Idaho, Utah, and Nev are relatively close. Eugene is a nice college town, not too hot, lots to do, lots of good cruise routes, low elevation. It would be a long drive for everyone else... Redding California would be a bit further South.

Of the poll choices I'd vote for Douglas, Wy (jk)... only 150 miles away :D .... but there is absolutely nothing there but a dragstrip... Casper (40 miles away) is pretty good sized and there are a lot of cruise routes in the area.

I like Denver because it's central... Broomfield, especially, could be good because there is a great mall there for the significant others to visit. EDIT... I forgot, it's not so easy to get to Bandimere from Broomfield.... better to stay in Southwest Denver.

I'll try to make it wherever it is.

Should be in Reno no doubt.

There are more Syclones and Typhoons combined in this town more than anywhere in the universe.

The PPG Indy Sy 3 Marlboro's, Shaun Palmer's Pikes Peak Syclone, Saudi Sy and my road race Sy are all located here. I know of a 4 wheel dyno and a great 1/4 mile track in Fallon NV are nearby as well. Unfortunately, Reno Fernley Raceway has been shut down for the time being.

Scenic cruise routes would definitely be a big plus......and would also be cool to have an AWD dyno day if available.
