It was at one time. What is interesting is SyTy original held their value well while Supra Tanked. If you bought a left 91 Syclone in 92 you could have made money, The 2nd owner of my Syclone paid more money than the original owner who drove it more than 30k and 5 years.

I looked into buyingiin 97/98 a Sy or MKIV Supra when I graduated college. Syclone and Supra at that time were in the same price range. At that time, Sy had a book value of 18K (92 Ty 21k, 93 24K) if they had super low miles Sy were right around 20k. Ultra low Ty were basically selling for they were sold off the lot. Supra on the hand, I could buy a auto 94/95 TT Supra for less than 20k all day long. 6 speed were a good 5K more. Yes these were low mileage exampes Those were 50k cars new that were selling for half, auto 40%.
On the Supra mailing list one of the guy with an auction liscense picked half dozen auto TT Supra for $12-13K and sold them at his cost to the mailing list members (they had 60-80k miles)

In 99/2000 the pricing went in opposite directions.

never heard of any of the guys changing their windshields. Youtube wotm supra or ryan woon, titan motorsports, boost logic Guys are running 7's and these cars are STREET driven. These cars spiked hard because people noticed the potential that these have. My friend has a 98 6 speed with a bone stock block and made 996 to the wheels and drives the car all the time. These motors take such abuse and they do eventually break but it's so damn hard to kill one.

Re: need a supra

true and untrue. The price of these cars is really driven by the mods done to the car. If the owner does the work himself the price usually reflects that. The quality of the parts for these cars range from crap to extremely high end. Obviously the better parts the more the car will be and if a shop did the work forget about it......thats when you see the crazy prices. You would shit yourself calling a shop to get a quote on doing work to these things. Its amazing what these guys get. These cars are not cheap to own and when you modd them doing it right costs five times more than modding sytys's.

you mean a forged crank is over 3K and headers almost 2K....LOL

just screw'n with ya.

Seen a single turbo supra on craigslist in baton rouge the other day for 13K. I emailed the guy bout it. It had several mods. Interior looked good but needed some paint.

Hmmm... I wonder why pricing jumped up in 2001?

It sure did help the pricing, but I think it was more of perfect storm of Supra gaining popularity.

I was on the Supra email list in 95 until about 2000. It wasn't until the 98 were out that people really start to figure out in the small Supra circle that the MKIV was fast and easy to modify. In 99 and 00 the pricing was already inching upward. I don't think it would have hit the peak, but I wouldn't be surprised if the long term pricing would have been unaffected.

Re: need a supra

My buddy wanted one bad. He found a 95 six speed all stock. Had a catback on it. That was it. He did intake, boost controller and DP. Finally he figured out that its expensive to build it to 700-800 hp. He had a couple EVO's before that. Also had a Lexus with a 2JZ swap in it that he sold. So the Supra is gone. Think he paid $25,000 for it and got $29,000 out of it. Super low miles like 45,000. Rust free car out here of course.

Re: need a supra

Bone stock motor will and can hold 1000hp all day long. That's why they command so much money. They are worth every penny. Look on supraforums.com. You will find tons of guys on stock blocks making over 900 easy.
