anyone race one of these or seen one on the streets? heard they are supposed to be quick cars .... high hp but not so high tourque ...

I dont think they are in the states yet but I heard they are supposted to be pretty nasty, like 450HP and 0 to 60 in under 4 seconds. I believe AWD too. I think they carry a high price tag too. Over 65K

The Skyline name was dropped and thus they are known as the Nissan GTR.

Dyno: "Horsepower and torque. Our testing on the four-wheel Dynojet dynamometer at K&N Engineering indicated that the factory ratings of 480 horses and 430 lb-ft are discounted by at least 5 and 14 percent, respectively."

So I would say if you come up on one, and they have time to put it in launch mode  your truck better be in tip top form with some mods of some kind.

Man you guys are funny. To beat that car I would have to take my speaker box out. Easy kill though  I'm sure one will show up next to me at a light one of these days and I will report back what the outcome is. Of course, people aren't spending much money in this town these days so who knows when I'll get that chance.

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR (2008)

For $65k I would expect a car to fly to the moon and back. Just think about the type of Sy/Ty you could build with $50,000! I think skylines are a sack ride, ha ha. I prefer a 1JZ supra for that price. Then I could go from 60 to 120 in 4 seconds while burning out :)

Are you guys talking about the G35's that say "SKYLINE" on the back or are these different? What I know as the Skyline is not the G35.

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR (2008)

Oh they're stateside alright!! I was in the O.C. a few months back and was invited to go to Californias highest selling Nissan dealership for its unveiling. Lots of pic. ops and seat time along with watching to others place they're orders and option requests. :p

Its certainly a love hate relationship with this design....and I think most that hate it will reconsider somewhat ,at least respectwise, once they get their butt handed to them in a quick race blip.

I didn't get to drive either of them there...but Sean Morris has as well as tuned tthe black car. Maybe he'll chime in here ?? ;)

I meant to post these up earlier....I've just been too damn busy.Anyway.....here's a few pix.
Cheers,Vinny

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR (2008)

I have one of the 1500 limited edition NISMO 350 Z's and I have given thought to trading it back in for a GT-R. Problem is I only have 452 miles on the NISMO and the same dealer wants to set me back $5,000 at trade-in to get a GT-R. Not sure $34,000 for my car and an additional $46,000 makes alot of sense at this point to just rocket through the 1/4 mile. The only thing the GT-R can outdo the NISMO 350Z on is acceleration. They are stickered right at $80,000 and some dealers might try to surcharge them but with the economy as it is, I don't think people are gonna be lining up to get one. They might go fast but foriegn cars can't handle the abuse a Ford Shelby GT500 or Chevrolet Z06 can endure with consistency....at least IMO.

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR (2008)

i honestly think its shouldnt even sport the GTR at all. The GTRs were the best of the best, nasty cars, that car doesnt have anything in common with the R32,R33, or R34
