Oh they're stateside alright!! I was in the O.C. a few months back and was invited to go to Californias highest selling Nissan dealership for its unveiling. Lots of pic. ops and seat time along with watching to others place they're orders and option requests. :p

Its certainly a love hate relationship with this design....and I think most that hate it will reconsider somewhat ,at least respectwise, once they get their butt handed to them in a quick race blip.

I didn't get to drive either of them there...but Sean Morris has as well as tuned tthe black car. Maybe he'll chime in here ?? ;)

I meant to post these up earlier....I've just been too damn busy.Anyway.....here's a few pix.

........................hope you liked them. Really cool, fasst car for the money. Find it a dollar for dollar competitor isn't coming anytime soon,me thinks........ ;)

Nice ride.....but not for the price. I say if a super car is what you're looking for buy a 2008 z06 Vette. Best bang for the buck ever! Not trying to be an ass :D
I bet people in Japan get just as wild as we do about the GTR when they see a 2008 ZO6 over there.

They might go fast but foriegn cars can't handle the abuse a Ford Shelby GT500 or Chevrolet Z06 can endure with consistency....at least IMO.

:) Tell that to the hundreds of Datsun Z owners I know that have well over 2-300 thousand HARD miles on the original blocks....and by now...maybe 500K on the chasis.

But the main thing about your comment to me is.....How much difference there is in cost of the 2 cars you've just mentioned when compared to the R35 ?? :squint:

A Z06 can only seat 2 people and has no real trunk/travel space.....GT-R seats 4 and has lots of trunk to boot.

Z06 sits too low for many folks to easily get in and out of. ( ok...mainly us older folks),lol.

Z06 STILL has a pushrod motor......R35 has a marvle wonder coming about in a small displacement multivalve super smooth engine...

Z06.......INSURANCE monthly come out of the stratosphere yet ????

Just a few points I considered. ;)
Cheers,vinny

I hope your not taking family vacations with a Z06 or a GTR. I dont need a trunk or a back seat. All I need is a passenger seat to take your mom out on dates...............

OMG Im just kidding. I had to put a mom joke out there. Im sorry :rotf:

i honestly think its shouldnt even sport the GTR at all. The GTRs were the best of the best, nasty cars, that car doesnt have anything in common with the R32,R33, or R34

Have you not read any of the road tests? Seen any of the videos? As of right now, it's easily among the best of the best. It lapped the Ring in 7:29. Until the ZR-1 makes a go, the GTR is King of the Hill for factory production cars. Who knows, it may hold on to the title, even above the ZR-1.

I don't think the R-32-34 can hold a candle to the GTR's lap times on the ring, or it's out of the box factory acceleration performance. And I'm not even a Skyline Fanboy. I think the older generations are plain looking sedans and I thought the GTR was ugly until I saw one in person. Love or hate the styling, you have to give credit to its performance. :ninja:

No....you'll still need your Sy's bed for the coffin....that is if your man enough to dig for about six hours butter paws.

I realize the rear seats require friends....something a Vette owner cares little about. They do need Love however.....thus the passenger seat. Man-love perhaps?? :squint:

Both comments were in bad taste and reflect the absence of sleep on my behalf.

I just spent 24 hours straight R&R',g 2 Sy bed-sides....I'm beat, damn uninsured drivers.

For $65k I would expect a car to fly to the moon and back. Just think about the type of Sy/Ty you could build with $50,000! I think skylines are a sack ride, ha ha. I prefer a 1JZ supra for that price. Then I could go from 60 to 120 in 4 seconds while burning out :)

Very true, buy a nice sy for 14gs and dump that amount of money into youll be in the 9's.

You ass face, you were in Cali and didn't even think to call me, I'm F-ing pissed now  :D

I love the GTR, looks sick and is surely easier to drive to that incredible 60mph time then a "Z06" Oh and take your insurance statement out of your arguement cause that's all BS, they're not that bad to insure, LOL

As for all you who want to jump right on the Z06 bandwagon, I for certain can tell you these cars do not run those uber impressive times they say they do on the street. With the stock goodyears and cold pavement and cold tires, these cars have a hard time going anywhere but sideways!! Remember just cause a professional did it at a race track doesn't mean it happens in real life for you. The GTR has AWD ( the main reason the Sy/Ty's kill on the street) and that added lunch control. I would bet my Sy that a GTR takes a Z06 405 or 505 on the street anyday of the week

There are 3 GTR's in the area. Nissan plants close by :). We had a GTR and an 09 Maxima both at a local Z car show. Pretty cool car, it is fast, btw.

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR (2008)

I thought the when the GT-R ran the ring it was not stock, something about slicks that were cut by an engineer or something, gimme a few, I'll find a link

edit: all i can find is forum blabber, nothing concrete. mostly about standing start for the vette and a flying start for the nissan, stock street rubber on the vette and cut slicks on the GT-R.

Dude.....your in Tracy....thats a ways north from Orange county isn't it ?? Besides....you didn't give me your didgits at Nats. I'll be in Santa Ana next week til the 20th......up an down the coast, working install sites etc.

...............speaking of that....Love to see Deans Sy while I'm out !!!!!!! ;)

By the way....I love the newest Corvette's looks. Its a completely different car from the GT-R....I really don't see why most people use it as a benchmark against a four seat heavier different Genre' car ??

Re: Nissan Skyline GTR (2008)

Either way its going to be a really good running street car. You can see plenty of videos on youtube of this thing launching, and it goes. Keep in mind all the recorded drag times(inflated or not) are with stock un modded cars. Wait til somebody puts a boost controller and meth on it, then it will be something to watch out for. Only down side is I think I read its in the 3800-3900lb area.

The GT-R's don't come with a standard 6 speed tranny, only paddle shift auto. Also, for the others who mentioned about why benchmark the GT-R against the Z06, it is quite simple. The Z06 is the best muscular flagship we produce in America and the Nissan GT-R waxes it across the board. What we don't know is how reliable the GT-R is?

X2. For the money, it puts down very nice numbers on the board. I wonder how well it will hold up under moderate modding.

You might want to verify the production location on these. All 1,500 limited edition NISMO 350Z's were built in Japan (I have the exact location on my certificate) and if I am not mistaken, the GT-R's are all built there as well.
