Re: Nissan Skyline GTR (2008)

Would be real interested to see..they are sweet cars but totally different in philosophies. I don't have computers controlling every little aspect of my driving experience (don't even have cruise control). From what I have read, almost anyone can take it to the limit; not so in the Viper.

If this is so...can you imagine the skill of these drivers ???:rotf:

If that's truly the case, then the ZR1 Smashed the GTR's time on the ring :)

My same sentiment BUT the Viper ACR is the King Dog right now.....it beat the ZR-1 by a second or two, I think. They are all fine automobiles though, but the Nissan would be my last choice!

T-bone...I've been doing a small poll on opinions like this. What was your 1st car when 16 years old ?

I'll answer your poll for myself Vinny.... 1974 GMC Jimmy w/full time 4 wheel drive... AWD Boxes run in my blood I guess.

My first car didn't come along until I was 17 y.o. but it was a midnight metallic blue 1970 Chevrolet Nova 2 door. Wanted a 4 speed so bad but had to settle for an automatic :(. First mod I did to it was to remove the original wheels and hubcaps, jack the back end up using air shocks and install a set of crager chrome 5 spokes on it. Ha, back then 7" wide wheels on the rear was the bomb.

Cool choices. Mine was a 73' Charger Brogham 400BB w/torqueflight. Kept it a year ...headers,Centerlines,lowered,black on black.

Drove a buddies Datsun 240-Z and traded the Charger off within the month. Never owned another domestic again until the Sy.

So far..what my poll has informed from with the few short months I've been asking.....is that we tend to form ,very early.....our vehichle passions and tend to stick within those guidlines to some degree over life. I obviously had my door opened to a Japanese sportscar early....and due to my friend having ZERO maintenance issues with his Z...I wanted some of that too. My Charger was a pain with needs.

Strangely though...I've always appreciated other marks equally, without a slam dunk disapproval or approval.

Usually...I find the Sy/Ty audience with a simmiliar take on things which is cool to me,;)

I guess I'm the exception to your theory. My first was a Chevy Z24, 2nd was a 65 Chevelless. The only foreign car I have owned is my DD '92 4 banger Camry. I would take a new GTR over the ZR1. :2cents:

Technically, my first car was a 83 Toyota Tercel that I shared with my sister. My parents bought the car, we were supose to share the expense. It was a short lived experiment (a little over 3 months), my sister drove an incredible amount of miles. She would use the car for a night it would seemingly always have another 1K miles on the odometer. (She was averaging 100K miles/year when she had the car to herself and it wasn't broken). I still don't know where the hell she went.

My father gave me his 84 Toyota Truck. I consider that my first car.

The next car was the first car I ever bought, a Corvette. I have owned mostly GM and Toyota's. However, I am not really that brand loyal, though I do have a soft spot for Corvette especially the older models. I do like certain cool vehicles. I would rather have Z06 than a GT-R, but I am not buying any 70k+ car anytime soon. For a more realistic price range that I would by a car in, I would rather have an used Evo than an used C5 Z06.

I have to agree for the money entry...the STI Subbies and Evos are a great bang for the buck. My boss drives an 08' STI with VOlk wheels and he auto crosses the heck out of it....daily driven too.:D

I am the same way. I have owned numerous Chevy, Ford, Chrysler, GMC, Pontiac, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Saleen, and Nissan products on the automotive side and Aprilia, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, Ducati, and Motard products on the motorcycle side. All had their forte's and hindrances but they were all designed for the sports enthusiast. If it is proven to perform, I could care less who made it.
