Northeast Convoy.....

Just wanna get things started. Those interested in going from the Northeast and would like to organize some sort of convoy, post here.

I plan on leaving the evening of Wed, June 9th, 2004 and arriving the next evening. Exact time is to be determined later depending on departure location, ect., but I would like to be on the road no later than 8:00pm.

Another option to consider is meeting out in the Pittsburgh area, then its a straight shot down I-70. This way, those coming from NY, MA, PA, N. Jersey, ect, can travel out together, and those leaving from S. Jersey and other parts of PA can meet up later instead of having to drive north an hour or more to meet up, just to drive west.

FWIW, Mapquest was actually very close with my time for last year when I went to S-Series Nationals in KC. It told me 20 hours driving, it took me 24 hours and I stopped and slept for 3 hours in the WV rest area and stopped for breakfast in Ohio as well.

Thoughts and suggestions are welcome.

Im glad everyone seems to dig the meeting in Pittsburgh area.

Does everyone there also realize the meeting time (departure time) in the Pittsburgh area will be somewhere between 1:00am and 2:00am depending on where we meet (I would hope an area right off I-70) and depending on if everyone stays on schedule. I know it wasnt a big deal (other than the location) when we all met Renz on the way out to '02 Nats, but I just wanted to make sure everyone realized that.

Also keep in mind we will be getting to KC on Thursday night, which means when you book your room, make sure you get it for 3 nights (Thur, Fri, Sat) After doing the cannonball run to the '02 Nats and arriving Friday morning to meet and greet everyone, that just basically sucks. I cant even remember that morning. Having a good nights rest is something Im looking forward to, this way I can enjoy my time out there instead of being exhausted and going to bed early every night.

I also plan on "attempting" to make a map with distances and times between major cities along the route to KC as well where we should be at what time, given that there are no major hold ups or stops.

I believe it was Keith who IMed me about meeting up with some Ohio people as well, which is fine with me, however keep in mind those who want to meet up along the way, be sure to find an area with EASY ACCESS on and off I-70 (ie, Rest Area, Gas Station, ect)

I'll also be editing the first post on this page with people who will be going and would like to travel out together, so if I dont know your name, im just going to put your screen name for now.

Count me in. Convoy sounds great and so does Pittsburgh. I really wanna take the syclone but looks like the typhoon. If I take the syclone I'll be tempted to race and possibly break things.

If you all are gonna pass through St Louis on Thursday around 1-2pm then I will probably hook up with you as well.

Just depends on timing.

Are Ed Hess and Les coming this year????

Be nice to get some of the NE's fastest SyTys out to represent.

ummmmm, nope. Check out the map in the first post. Looks like St Louis is gonna be around 11:50am. If you wanna try an hour earlier or if we get help up sure, but plans are to try and hit St. Louis around noon on Thursday.

I may hook up with you guys at some point for this journey too. I'd have to figure out when you will be passing through Ohio on I-70 and go from there.

Did anybody bother to look at the map I made???

Columbus Ohio, 5:00 AM. Thats the "planned" time we will be passing through if all goes well and we leave Pittsburgh at 2:00AM at the latest. Not sure how far away you are in relation to Columbus, but thats the plan as of now.

Put up the bat signal when you guys hit town.

:evilbat:
well, if all goes as planned, I will start a phone number list in the next few months with someone (who has a cellphone) who wants to be in charge of each group that wants to meet up, meaning if Member X wants to be in charge of Group Y meeting outside of City Z, I will call member X before we get there to make sure things are good to go. He can then call anyone who is missing from his group to make sure they get thier ass there on time, or we'll be leaving w/o him.

When time gets closer, things will start to get organized more. I just wanted to throw this out there so everyone had MORE than enough time to read it.
