Re: Prepping for nats!

I think most of the larger truck stops have cat scales. I know a bunch of the flying j's/ ta's have them up 75.

Yea and if you are over weight that is a good place to leave one of the trucks

Re: Prepping for nats!

That trailer is 2,500 more than I guessed it was. You guys are going to be really close, or over. I used 3,600 as an average weight for the SyTys. 5K, now 7.4 for the trailer, and 7,500 for the truck, people, and gear. That's 25,700. And if the Typhoon weighs 4,100, like I think they do, your at 26,200. You're really being brave, if you don't cross a scale with it before departure.

Get a CB. Listen to the chatter on ch 19. If there's a check, or issues with a scale being unreasonable, it will be on the chatter. Pull over, unload the most road-worth SyTy (it should be on the rear), and have King drive it past the scale in question. On the other side, load it back up., and continue.

DOT dudes are pricks. They are not going to fall for "dumb blond" with that rig. People that run those kinds of rigs are not ignorant, and they [DOT] know it. You happen to get a DOT guy on you who's on his period, he'll ruin your trip. Weigh it, girl.

lol I actually talked to one of the "higher up" guys at DOT and he said that because we are a personal vehicle and not for hire (which we have to put on the trailer) he said we should be ok. The rig actual weight empty will be 13394 lbs. He also said that as long as we are using the rig for what it made and built for we will be fine. We shall see, for the most part we are going to just wing it and like you said, if we get into trouble we can always take one of the trucks off :banghead:

Re: Prepping for nats!

The best part is D2 is too scared to drive it and is having Mandi do all the driving. Maybe thats his plan, they get stopped before BG, she goes to jail he unloads a truck and goes on.

Re: Prepping for nats!

well i have been doing the same to my trailer. When i brought the sy home the 06 silverado managed to get 13 mpg :)

NC class c license will allow you to drive a straight truck up to 26k but you can only tow a trailer up to 10k

Also be sure to have the correct weight ratings on the tags on the truck and trailer.

Well with only a ty and a sy we should be at an ok weight for the trailer but adding a sy would put it really really close so the weekend before nats we are going to load up the whole rig and take it down to the truck stop to weigh it. Hopefully we have taken enough weight off the trucks to make it, if not then we will take it down to a sy and a ty.

Nice....

I'm going to spend all night taping off the front bumper, mirrors, and whatnot so I can not deal with bugs washing/detailing the truck before hand.

If anyone is interested I'll be bringing down all of my detailing supplies and can help or provide a quick job on site for a minimal fee (half of what I charge normally).

Doesn't matter though, my stuff is still beat up :(

Re: Prepping for nats!

30 hour drive from Canada. I am not sure where/why he picked up so many bugs. Many of us from the Northeast had 20 hour drive and had no where near that amount.

I believe he was helping with bug population control in Iowa on his way through.

The kc2000 nats

Me and NcTyphoon drove her ty from nc to kc and we killed just as many bugs if not more. Her truck looked 10 times as bad due to it being black
