Re: Quinnster's Syclone 2208 Rebuild

The Bed cover was custom made by Gaylords Lids, they agreed to it then later found out they didn't have a mold for a first gen S10 and had to custom make it. It ended up being much more difficult and time consuming than they thought. I do like it though!

And for an update. I have gotten the cladding all on and mostly squared away. I'm going to try and get the front bumper on straighter. Have been cleaning it up and messing with a few random things here and there. Just need to replace the master cylinder that I just found out was bad and I can start driving it again!

Looking good Matt!!!
Thanks, Its coming along! We need some updates on your build thread.

those fog lights!

I bought some high power LED's from ANZO that looked like the would replace our fog lights nicely and they do! I still need to finish wiring them up then I'll take some good pictures of both of them on the truck. I need the clear corners to match the fog lights now.

More details on the LEDs!

Did they fit in the stock casing or come with their own?

Looks awesome.

Link for the lights is below. You can see the bracket that comes with the light is the "U" shape. It used one hole where a rivet was holding on the cover for one screw and had to drill the second hole. Then I have to space them up about a 1/4 inch to get them to sit at the right height. They aren't quite bolt in, but very minimal fab work to make them fit.

They are about $100 for a set I thought about picking up a set a while back but couldn't bring myself to buy them

Re: Quinnster's Syclone 2208 Rebuild

Last night I got off work, and grabbed my new master cylinder and ran to my shop to work on the truck with the help of Jayson (JAYSTCB). We bled the front brakes and had a very good firm pedal feel, but couldn't get any fluid out of the rears even though they were good before. We figured it must have to do with the proportioning valve so took it apart. Found a bunch of gunk in there and blew it all out and wiped the inside walls and threw it back together. Finally had all the brakes good and working!

Took it out of the shop to drive for the first time in a while and took it down the street. Brakes felt quite good along with the suspension. Then pulling it back into the shop I turn the wheels hard and cut the brake line!! Dumb mistake on my part. I ordered new lines from Renz and looked up in his installation manual and it says to run the lines on the inside of the A-Arm not the outside. I'm just glad to have found my mess up right away rather than after making a U-turn and flooring it or a worse situation.

Got the new brake lines and properly routed them. Bleed the brakes and drove it to my new place. It took me 5-6 tries to get it into the garage. The driveway is too steep and the truck high centers! Only way I got it in was pulling forward at the widest angle possible. This can get annoying, especially since the rear Isn't lowered yet. May not be able to until I move!! I'll try and wash the truck today and get better pictures of it.

Re: Quinnster's Syclone 2208 Rebuild

Alright so its been a month since the last update. I took it on a long drive on Christmas day and enjoyed it a ton! I took it up some of the nice twisty roads and it cornered better than I remembered and I don't even have the better wheels and tires on it yet. Truck holds onto the road as fast as I felt comfortable driving it! I continued to enjoy it up until about new years, then the exhaust manifold started leaking pretty bad, so I have to figure out what to do to seal it up for good and keep the bolts from backing out. Loctite red? Maybe I didn't torque the bolts enough?

Another problem I have to figure out is when I bolted up the ZR1 wheels the rears were fine, but the fronts barely rubbed on the new brake calipers. I can still spin the wheel, they just barely Graze each other. Should I get a 1/16" wheel spacer, or shave down the caliper a bit? I also wonder if I would need new wheel studs if I used the spacers or if I would be able to get away with 1/16th less threads. I guess that would be one turn.

I need to get back on it since this is the closest I have been to done, just been lazy for the last month!

1/16 of a inch, I would shave the caliper down a bit, then you won't have to worry about spacers and such.

I got in the lights you used but can you post some pics of how you mounted the them and what you used to space them up. I understand what you said about mounting them so that can be done pretty easy but what did you use to raise them thanks for all the help its a great idea.

Sorry, I keep forgetting to take the pictures of mounting. I will get them tonight! I reused one hole where the rivet was holding on the bumper and had to drill the other one. Then I put the bolt through with a few washers and a nut for spacers to get the lights at the proper height.
