Re: GM Navigation Radio 2003-2006

Do you know if this would work in a 2001 GMC Yukon? Thanks.

I am unsure. Do you have the BOSE system in the truck? I know it will physically fit perfectly. I am sure i can get you the pigtail harness for it.

Re: GM Navigation Radio 2003-2006

GM 6.5 inch LCD TOUCH SCREEN navigation unit with CD/AM/FM radio, fitting many GM 2003 to 2006 vehicles including Escalade, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon, Hummer, Silverado, Sierra, Denali. Please check with your GM dealer to ensure its compatibility with your vehicle. This radio came out of a Yukon and may require reprogramming if used in other models. Unit works great, screen and buttons are in perfect condition.

Is that the actual unit? The splash screen shows a bowtie--if it was last installed in a Yukon, it should have red GMC letters on a white background.

Which disc do you have for it?

Re: GM Navigation Radio 2003-2006

The last disc that was in the unit was the navigation disc from a 2005 suburban, therefor the bow tie. The unit came off a 2005 GMC Yukon Denali. There is no Navigation disc included, when the shop removed the unit, somehow the disc was lost. Therefor I have priced it at a fair price.

Check out my seller feedback, I don't see a reason why to be calling me out on a BS comment. I guess the laptop behind the unit, isn't actual laptop either, or the 40D used to take the pictures of the unit installed in the truck at the shop was not an acutal 40D.

Re: GM Navigation Radio 2003-2006

I wasn't trying to call you out, but the bottom two pictures are NOT a Denali. A Denali would have fake woodgrain dash trim, and would have climate control with two rotary knobs and a digital display instead of the standard HVAC controls.

Also, the splash screen is generated based on the VIN, not the disc--install the same unit and same disc in an Escalade, and you get a Cadillac logo.

At any rate, I was considering upgrading mine, which is non-touchscreen (it uses a joystick).

I seem to recall there are two flavors of this unit: a "lux" version (Escalade, Denali, H2), and a "premium" one (Suburban/Tahoe/Avalanche, non-Denali Yukon/Sierra). I wanted to make sure I wasn't buying a headache, and was hoping to upgrade to a newer disc.

Nope, this won't work in a 2001. 2003 and later GM's tag the radio to the vehicle BCM. Every time the key is toggled the radio and BCM compare VIN #'s. If the VIN #'s don't match it puts the radio in theft lock. Further, radios can only be swapped amongst the same platform (ie, not between a sedan and an SUV), and then only if they are flashed with the correct VIN #.
...same reason you can't get the '03 and newer radios to fire up on a bench... there has to be a BCM connected.
When I had SoundGate we spent years building changer/iPod/Sirius interfaces for GM radios....they are a big PITA to do engineering on.
There are a few authorized GM radio repair shops that can reflash the radios... can't remember the names now.... just google 'gm radio reprogram'.

...hope this helps...

That stinks. That is a great price for that type of unit. I guess I will keep looking. Thanks.
