Re: This is for those that get harassed by the cops...
Its funny how people who put their live in danger every day understand why things are done the way they are where as the people who have never had to do some of the things we have, as law enforcement officers have are the first to complain and criticize everything.
I guess rolling that window down a inch sure made it easy on you R&C. Just think if you rolled it down all the way. You might have actually got away with nothing and not wasted your time, money and aggravation having to go to court to win a simple case. And, you did something a little ass backwards. You say you handed the officer all of your ID's and such, and when he came back, asked you to roll down the window more you asked HIM for proof that he is a legit officer. Shouldn't you have done that first, before handing him anything?
You can be pulled over at any time, and anywhere. For no reason at all other then the officer to find out why your in that area of town, or what your intentions are. And clearly at 3am, he had every right too.
Yea because I got off at work at 3am I could be up to something. Or if I'm driving a drunk friend home from a bar I could be up to something. WTF does the time have to do with anything. I have been a 3erd shift worker for 10 years and I often spend my time at night up doing normal every day things you do during the day. Like grocery shopping. This really cracks me up. Maybe we should have police outside your doors making sure you don't leave at night time. Because if your out during the night you must be a damn vampire. Wow, is this what America is coming to?
As far as not rolling down my window all the way, it was about 30 outside and the wind was blowing like crazy. What exactly does rolling down my window all the way have to do with a officers safety? I did not post all of the exact details of the stop. However I can tell you that he already had it in for me because of my exhaust. The first thing he did was ask me if I know why he pulled me over. My respond was, "I don't know sir." And he replied that I should know why he pulled me over and insisted that I tell him why. Again, I responded, "Sir, I have not broke any laws and was driving the speed limit. So maybe you can please tell me why. Do I have a light out or something?" He already choose to give me a hard time without a reason to pull me over. Then he made up a lie and told me I was swerving on the road hoping that he could get me for a D.U.I that he later admitted in court to. This guy made up a reason to pull me over because he seen me drive from the bar. Then after realizing I passed every test he through at me, then he writes me a ticket for exhaust which was 50-state legal. After I told him I have a sticker under the hood, the exhaust and stage II kit came right from GM. I also forgot to mention that he pushed up and down on the back of the car making the rear shocks go up and down, I'm telling you he was trying to get a negative respond from me. And the yelling at me for having a loaded pistol was total BS. I have been trained to carry and have my act 235. This was only a few weeks after I passed all of my police testing, but I was not selected for a job. No extra points for me. I'm not a veteran and did not have any credits in criminal justice at the time. So don't even dare act or post like I deserve to be treated like that.
Bottom line is this.
1.) It is my right to roll down my window to where ever I want it. As long as the officer can see me and everyone in the car. I have no tint, and as long as we can talk and hear each other. No one can tell me other wise.
2.) It is also my right by law to carry my pistol and have it loaded. That is not up to a police officer to tell me other wise. I respected him and loaded my pistol back up when he left. Because that was his request. Now that is something for his safety that I can understand.
3.) He had no right to touch my property and push up and down on my vehicle, and he had no right to yell and scream because of having my pistol loaded.
Until the law changes, I will follow the law and continue to exercise my rights. When the law changes, I will also follow the law. Because I'm a law abiding citizen. You better believe it though that I'll do my best to fight for the rights and laws that I feel are correct and just. If a officer does not respect that, that it his problem not mine. Again, this is not a law enforcement bashing fest. I have friends who are police and risk their life everyday. I also know plenty of officers who do not go beyond their boundaries.
This post was just talking about our rights and exercising them. Also what to do if your rights are being taken from you. There are also plenty of times a honorable law abiding citizen has saved police lives and aided police in bad situations. This world would be a much better place if people learned to trust each other and help each other instead of acting on their sinful nature.
