Re: This is for those that get harassed by the cops...

I posted this for the people that have that one cop that always harasses them... You know the same one that points you out in traffic. No matter what is going on around him... I didnt post this for people to argue. Every state has different laws..

I know there is one cop near my shop that will pull anyone over if the car looks like a sports car.. No matter what car it is. Viper, 350z, Sport bikes,etc.. Then he will start pointing his finger and yelling at them.... Then giving them a ticket for speeding... I had one worker get stopped by him last summer on his way home from work on his motorcycle.... The cop got out of his patrol car , ran up and took the key out of the ignition. Then tells the young man to push the bike over to the curb... This is on a road that has a 30mph limit and is 2 lanes both ways... He finally got to the curb and the cop asked if he wanted to die today.. My worker replied "No... Thats why I was doing the speed limit.. There was traffic and nobody could go faster than 30mph.. He didnt get a ticket. But he did get the badge number and filed a complaint.

This guy is well known to pull people over for no reason other than having a nice , sporty ride...

Would not take long in my neck of the woods for that police officer to lose his job. Thanks for posting this useful information. There is another site similar to the one you posted. I always show friends the site, they even have vids of traffic stops and help teach you what to do. I'll have to find that link again and add it to this thread.

Every state is different. Some do not need any "cause" to search you and can by right.

Probable cause can extend a very long arm of the law when you want it to. Its all about articulaion(sp) in a report.

i say just arm yourself with basic knowledge and carry a couple of law books in the passenger seat and let the cops make their own judgment. they may just walk away and you get a warning. :D

(R&C Rallysyty)when I get pulled over, my window is only cracked. I don't have to get out, and I lock my doors. I always ask to see I.D. and a badge number. I immediately write down the info and then proceed to give the officer respect.[quote/]

By you not lowering your window enough to where he can see(mostly assuming you have tint, because most everyone does) both hands freely, as well as anyone else in the car when he came up in uniform to your window. And saw you fumbling around in the car looking for what you say to be something to write with and on without the window being down. That would give the him a sense of endangerment. Which gives him the right to draw his weapon, and remove you from your car, and search it if you didn't obey the order to lower the window. Any OIC(officer in charge, meaning Sgt or above) in that department would back the officer if this happened. Because he had, probable cause that his life might have been put in danger or something was wrong or illegal going on.

Keep that in mind the next time you think your "rights" are being violated. ;)

Your entire hypothetical post means nothing to me, since I don't have tinted windows. As for most people having tint, I would have to say just maybe 5-10% of vehicles have illegal tint in the USA. And I don't write anything down until I ask the Officer permission to get a pen and paper. That was in the part of showing respect to the officer in my previous post. And how will anyone pull me out of a car that is locked? Anyways, just wanted to clear some things up. You are correct assuming your hypothetical post would be reality, and the Srg. or whoever is in charge would back the officer in that case. However, the courts possibly would not see it that way. Especially if you have proof of being a law abiding citizen with no criminal background. The police dept. would be sued in a heartbeat if unnecessary force was implemented.

Being a window tinter for over 20 years, I have to say that both in CA and now WA only 5-10% of people that get their cars tinted are LEGAL... But like all laws. All States are different.

don't mean to highjack or get off topic, but my friend is a tinter and he told me that someone in cali. is trying to pass a law to remove the blacked out tint even on the rear windows ov vehicles. is that why some new vehicles don't come tinted anymore. and i'm not referring to the fleet vehicles. if it is true and it gets passed then that will cause more harassment by either side of the law.

Trucks and SUV's will always come with "Privacy" glass... There is no way around that. But what people dont know is that the "Privacy" glass DOES NOT block out any heat.. Nor does it block out any UV rays. Its just colored glass..

Well you must fit into the 5% of people who don't have tint.

If you were stopped for something that made the officer pull you over, for a custodial stop. How would the officer get proof that you were a law abiding citizen with no criminal background if he couldn't get a complete visual of you? Just because you roll down your window a inch and hand out a drivers license doesn't mean that it is you in the car. Which is the second reason why a cop asks the window to be down. First is to see movement. Second is to identify. If you didn't roll down the window after being asked to. You would be asked to step out. If you did not unlock the door and step out more then likely you would have a gun on you and back up called. Now either they will bring a dog out, or you will be forced out of your vehicle. And a judge is going to see you refusing. Causing this action.

Your mentality on "I don't do's" is the number one reason why you see people getting tazered.

No offense. But if you feel that unsafe when a uniformed officer comes up to your window and asks for information then you need to lock yourself in your house.

Re: This is for those that get harassed by the cops...

Why is everyone always so against the man? It kind of kills me how everyone always wants to be "invincible" from the law but yet no one is packing their shit and moving off to Somalia or somewhere equivalent where there really isn't much law. I have been harassed by the same cop, bastard towed my truck and everything. Bottom line is, I did something wrong. I had illegal exhaust. I can see people being upset about profiling and just being unfair in general like for example, why am I subject to exhaust tickets and Harley guys can rattle and crack your glass with out being noticed? Stuff like that I can see. As far cops wanting to search a vehicle? I say let them. If you aren't hiding anything then you will be ok. If you go around telling them how much you know about the law and all your rights, chances are they will make your life a living hell. They are just doing their job. Now it's different if they want to search your car and steal your stuff like that cop in Tennessee? But otherwise, if they pull over the guy that is acting a little jittery and ask to search his car and he says no, they get the warrant for cause, and find the gun he was going to go shoot his wife and kids with, I say more power. This is considering the guy owned the gun illegally of course. There are tons of scenarios this would play in to. I say just cooperate and get on with your life. Why waste 2-3 ****ing hours sitting on the side of the road to prove you know your rights?

Apparently you don't have a problem with people of authority doing things that are against the constitution......
The point was not about criminals being treated in a lawful manner. Meaning they did something to warrant the conducting of a search.
It was for the simple traffic infraction getting blown out of proportion and an illegal search being conducted simply because the victim of the search didn't know any better.
Just because you have a Laissez-faire attitude toward people who abuse their authority doesn't mean others should too or that it's the right thing to do. Some people actually feel that standing up for their/your rights is patriotic.

Think about it. If they ask if they can search, they don't have cause.....that's why they ask.

Window tint- pretty simple. Next time your at the mall have a look at all the cars. How many have aftermarket tint? Now go to the local police station and have a look at all the police personal vehicles.
This is especially true in the sunny states......

Tinted windshields..... I bet they don't speed. I can't stand tinted front and rear. Makes it so I can't see the police:D

Ok, I'm going to explain to you exactly what a officer does when or sometimes even before he pulls you over. I know this because I have a few very close friends who are police officers. One being a State Trooper. First of all, the amount of information a police officer can have on you before you are even pulled over is insane. All it takes is a simple plate number and everything about you, including your moms name will be shown. Why would you have to roll down your window for a officer to see movement? I thought glass was clear.

The reason why I only roll down my window a inch or so is for my own safety. That is right, people have been pulled over by fake police. If a police officer feels his safety is at risk because I asked him if I can get his badge number, and if I can write down his name there is a problem. If I'm asked to step out of the vehicle for getting a notepad and pen or a gun pulled on me for no reason. And last of all, a police officer can not make you roll down your window. Your only obligation to him is giving him a positive id. He does not have to smell your breath to do that. If he asks you to roll down your window all the way, you don't have to. Hell, what if the car is a unmarked car? Anyways, like I said I'll continue to do things my way and by the laws ways. They have not lead me stray yet, and I have got out of my last 6/7 tickets.

Police have so many tools for their job. Pull plates, a loud speaker, firearms, backup, and plenty of resources to do their job. Trust me, they don't have to see your face to know exactly who they are dealing with.

Oh yea, and for the comment about locking myself in the house. Why don't you tell that to the 26 year old woman who was raped and killed by a fake police officer in uniform with a real badge? Or how about the 4 year old girl that was abducted by a fake police officer in uniform? Do you need me to go on and on? Please, I study this everyday and these laws are to protect the law abiding citizens from things like I mentioned. Your looking at it from the wrong perspective. Trust me, I don't need to hide behind laws either, because that is what my .45 is for. My life is at risk and the law allows me to defend myself with deadly force. You have to love this country for how it was setup. This administration though is slowly stripping those away and the naive people who don't get a grip on reality will let it happen to. Bottom line is, I'm done arguing the facts and laws that I know and study and apply to everyday life. Back to Sy Ty stuff for me. I'm sure we can all agree on that stuff! lol

Re: This is for those that get harassed by the cops...

It boils down to our ****ed up society and no one giving a shit anymore. We have allowed the government to press us out of our rights given by our forfathers. I had an incident about 2 months ago where Johnny Law wanted to **** me and he tried really hard. I guess he didn't like seeing a young man that is successful. It was complete bullshit and my lawyer had it thrown out about 5 min after the docket was called. If I didn't have the money for a good lawyer, I probably would have received some time.

Bottom line is I knew my rights were indeed violated, but that didn't keep me from spending a couple grand and spending some time over night at the county hotel. I know the game, once you give them the inch they need, they will take a mile and back off 25 ft to get a running start to bury it to the whiskers. The justice system has become nothing more then a source of revenue for our big ass government to justify more big government.

Funny thing is I do alot of traveling, I've actually only spent a few months in the States over the past 4 years, and I feel more free in other countries then I do in the states. It's a direct reflection of our big government gettting more and more into the lives of the citizens. It's a failure of society to produce upstanding citizens really, everyone is selfish and feeding their hedenism instead of making the world a better place. It's crumbling, I have decided to write a book about it, but it won't make a difference because 90% of the population doesn't read any more, they just eat up the bullshit fed to them on TV.

America, **** Yeah!

I guess this has gone far enough I can throw this in.

People seem to forget that Hitler was elected to office......with the help of a very close (male) friend. The same friend who was later put to death for being such a "close" friend along with all the other "close" male friends that hung around that long.
This is not directed at BO. Just an example of where things can end up if people that just say the things people want to hear get elected w/o looking at how they think about those things.

This is the point here, next time you get pulled over and think you are being harassed, take a look at that jerk off next to you that probably put the idea in the cops mind that criminals are everywhere. This is something I take in to consideration when a cop asks me to search or seems to be giving me a hard time. I would say 99% of the time I am respectful and courteous. When I was younger, I was one of those criminals cops were after and I am going to tell you this, weather you are doing something right or wrong, making their job harder does NOT get you anywhere and can get expensive and inconvenient. Now a days, I thank these guys for really trying to look out. I know what people can do and I know what they can hide, these are the people that are making you see cops in a bad light. The last time I got lippy with a cop was in 07 when the same cop that gave me two friggin exhaust tickets pulled me over and gave me another ticket. At the end of the stop, he asked me to get out of the car and walk home:rotf: I was like WTF!!!! Yep, he towed my Ty. I had it back an hour later but was still pissed. I will admit I was not cooperative from the start since he knew me by name and I his. The was never very respectful to me either. Point is, from his seat, he saw a guy who got an exhaust ticket and refused to fix it. So as far as I am concerned, MOST, read this word, MOST people that feel harassed are more than likely presenting some image that justifies it.
