Can somebody fill me in? What wire under the carpet do you disconnect for timing? Are we talking spark timing?

Thanks,
Galen

My ass. Look at it.
There is a tan wire with a black square connector, disconnect that and you can set your timing correctly.

if you look at the bulkhead connector that goes throught the firewall right by the pass footwell, then you about 6 inches up that pack(towards the ecm) of wires and you will find the tan timing connector with black connectors.

I couldn't budge my Ty distributor with a the special tool either. I never did change it, but I was going to pull the upper intake so I could get a tool in their properly. I think someone mention about 1/4 drive swivel sockets.

getting the distributor loose is a PITA for sure, just got to keep swearing at it till it goes your way. special wrenchs help but it still sucks, piss poor engineering.

as far as the wire hanging, we never did come up with what that was supposed to be used for did we? does anyone have schematics so it can at least say what it does, even if it wasn't hooked up?

so far i've put cap, rotor, plugs, wires, fuel filter, pan gasket and filter (trans)
timed to zero
adjust tv cable
notice that when i boost the timing up it ran smoother and the rattle in the engine went away sounds great but the rpms were up
adjusted back to zero
can i adjust it so the timing is a degree or two high?
will this afect anything?
it has a light burble in the exhaust every five seconds notice the rpm gauge dies down when this happens
also new tires (the originals were dryroted)
and now i get a faint vibration

My truck is stock and in P it idles at 750 perfectly. That "burble" can be attributed to the AC CR42TS spark plugs(stock) that you may have unstalled. I use the NKG-UR5s and they do not miss at all.
