theres tack fluter when its idileing and gets it kic-up. aply brake and shift it in to gear it almost dies and then
it runs smooth with no tack flutter. in gear

Yeah, its safe to have the guage hooked up when idling, just wrap a towel on the connection and bleed the guage to avoid flooding the engine compartment with gas=boom :D .

checked my timming this weekend and notice that when the piston is at the top. zero degrees on balancer.
the rotor looks like its pass the number 1 wire by 1/4"

start the truck in the morning and it runs great for about 15 sec
then starts to have the problems

what happens at start up? what changes after 15 sec?

After 15 seconds? Sounds like IAC prolly. Does the RPM Drop after this time? Have you cleaned/replaced IAC valve lately?

Ok, the IAC valve stands for Idle Air Control, it can compensate for small vac leaks at idle, and like its name states, it controls the idle speed.

The IAC is located on the underside of the TB, it has a four wire harness attatched to it and it screws into the IAC passage.

If the IAC cannot compensate enough for a vac leak, it may throw a code.

Also, if the truck stalls like you say after the Idle drops, you may have a large vac. leak.

Well, you can pour starter fluid on the lines, but I know that s-fluid is no good on the 02 sensor. Try some sensor friendly carb cleaner instead.

If there is a vac. leak present, the fluid will be sucked into the lines and will raise the RPMs slightly.

I think you should try the tube trick though, go out and buy the cheapest tube you can find, youll be ruining it anyways.

Did you check your IAC? It can be kind of a beyatch to remove, especially with the IC still hooked up. I would remove the whole throttle body and give it a thorough cleaning and get it all over with/do it right.

change o2 sensor
did bike tube trick.
is it suppost to hold air?
I do hear air around the area of the intercooler and throtle body so i dumped a bucket of soap suds on it. - nothing
then i sprayed down with carb cleaner. no difference
notice that the turbo had a sound when the hose was off doing the test
would a clog cat cause rough idile?
still sputtering at idile after the first 10 seconds of start up
also notice that if i take off very slow it surges alittle
going to check the wires tonight.

That big leak you found around the TB is actually from the throttle blade shaft-ours are not air tight and some like yours and mine, are bad enough that we notice them. Its not technically a vac. leak but it is a boost leak, its hard to build up past 13 psi.

Did you take your IAC valve out and clean it?

How did your 02 look? Im pretty sure that wasnt your problem as it does nothing at startup or until it is warmed up enough.

The IAC is on the backside of the TB, it's going to be perpendicular to your TPS sensor. What size bike tube did you get, I bought one from target and no way in hell is that thing gonna fit over the IC inlet.

Try a Mtn. bike tire tube, not a street bike-theyre too small.

I believe the stock IAC was metal on mine, the new one was black plastic. They have a large hex on them so that you can use a wrench to remove them, the whole valve is like a big bolt that You unscrew from the TB.

Try taking the whole TB off and cleaning every nook and cranny, this usualy fixes a few Idle issues and maybe some that you didnt know were there.

The TB is super easy to take off and clean, the IC is a little harder but not too bad at all.

i unplug the thing next to the brake hoes on the intake and it ran smooth
what is this and does it mean anything?

Or are you talking about the IAT sensor? It screws in right next to the fitting for the brake booster hose.
