So replacing the transmission mount, and one of the bolts on the trans side snapped. Cant get it out. Tried everything to include welding a nut to it, wont budge.

Anyone have any work arounds aside from pulling the trans out?

Does that piece seperate from the transmission on the truck?

Does the nut shear off when you try to loosen it? I've had very good luck with those bolt extractors that you drill a hole in the bolt, then screw the extractor in (reverse threads) and it eventually breaks loose.

Not sure if you can get a mini torch up close to the boss around the bolt threads?? If so, PB blast it, heat the boss around the bolt (if the nut is still welded to it put an ice cube on the nut after the heating)... give the boss quite a bit of heat (keep a fire extinguisher handy)... do that cycle 4 or 5 times (with the PB blaster) and it should break the bond between the bolt and the boss... used to do it all the time when I worked on Cats and it never failed me.

I have a adapter sitting here if you need one. P.M. if you can't fix yours. I would just take it off. Get a pail of diesel fuel and toss it in there for a couple days. Then drill a hole and use a screw extracter in it.

have had it happen several times. drill and tap a new set of threads. quicker and easier than removing the xcase and all that goes with it.

Just try a reverse drill bit, something around 3/16"

Once you break through the old bolt they usually just slide right up, if they dont then an easy-out will do it for sure. I became an expert when I tore down my Ty. 12 years of New York winters took its toll on the undercarriage. I sheared/broke 1 out of every 3 bolts I tried taking off
