Got defibrillated by my distributor!

If you haven't attempted to adjust your timing in the rain... Well... you're just not living dangerously enough :rotf:

Tomorrow I might drive to the top of a hill and do it on a ladder while holding a golf club... maybe a bolt of lightning will give me the 1.21 gigawatts of electricity I need!

Finally got around to finishing up my down pipe fender dump and pte swap, now to pull the trans for the converter. Should hopefully have a sound clip soon.

Battled my IAC problem, the truck laughed at me and called me its bitch, so I wiped it down, and then drove it around... finally crossed over 15,000 miles! yay!

Trans lines , wrapped the down pipe, replaced that little piece of hose @ oil pan that leeks. Fabing up a dump pipe where the cat delete pipe is.

I'd like to do a cat delete and an electric dump. Is there a problem running that on a stock truck? I recall someone saying it causes overboost or some other problem...
I've got no more emissions or inspection in CT

Been a long time coming. Trans sat on shelf ( with most of the rest of the truck )the past 3-4 maybe 5 years. Took it down, pointed it towards garage door and that's it. Will wait for parts to trickle in.

Not my truck but...

A friend here in the U.K. hasn't had a running truck for 4 years so I offered to try and help him fix it. He had no spark so given my recent similar issue, he bought one of the eBay billet distributors.

We tested it in the same way that I checked mine and he had spark! The alarm was no longer a suspect so we set about replacing the distributor. What a pain it is on a stock truck! It has never been removed and just as we were about to raise it aloft, the oil pressure switch was jamming it in! A quick bit of improvisation later (an angle grinder and a sacrificial socket) and it was free. The rotor was crap on the new one and the old one looked brand new so we made sure that all worked.

There was no fuel and using the test wire for the pump led to a very hot wire so we concluded the pump was dead. We spent a few hours wrestling with that and replaced the pump with a new Racetronix unit.

5L of petrol later and...

She fired up on the first start and ran smoooooth! Garry was ecstatic. His face was a picture - wish I had a snap! I didn't but managed a beer instead.

It fired up first time for the first time in 4 years. Got to be pleased with that!

Re: What did you do to your SyTy today? (part 2)

i had some free time in the garage on Sunday. I swapped my CarDone reman sloppy zq8 box out for a junkyard camaro z box. It aligned my steering shaft correctly, i just hope its tighter than the reman'd box.

Also disconnected my Bosch fuel pump, and mounted up the Magnafuel pump & filters. I still have to cut my old fuel lines down and add new fittings.

I started splitting my engine harness up to loom it together. 500ft of wire, and about 60 crimp terminals before its done.

I did a tune up (plugs, wires, cap & rotor) on a fellow SyTy'r. It was my first one ever on these trucks. It wasn't hard at all just had to be patient and once the inner fenders were out of the way it was a breeze. I'm guessing with everything on these trucks it just takes some patience. Looking forward to doing mine in the next couple weeks.
