What did you do to your SyTy today? (part 2)

Re: What did you do to your SyTy today? (part 2)

Took the battery to get charged and it was bad. I bought the battery back in March. I really need to disconnect the crappy alarm it has. Don't know what else would be draining the battery that bad.

Replaced the stock coil with a MSD coil. New Taylor wires, Accel cap and rotor and NGK UR6 plugs. Also put in new valve seals and valve cover gaskets. Lastly I replaced the stock steering shaft plastic and rubber bearing with the upgraded plastic and steel bearing.

Put some LS1/Z28 brakes on the SGT, and did some of the frame undercoating. Here are some pics I have more in my build thread.

Installed a rail mounted fuel pressure gauge from RPM. I know mounting the gauge on the rail is kind of controversial, but I haven't heard of anyone with this gauge having any issues.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get my new fuel pump and afpr installed within the next couple days.

Watch that gauge like a hawk.... As time moves on gas starts to weep out and get moist around that area.... We all know what the killers of these trucks are well fire is except in crispys case... Hope that the build is almost done and you'll be on the road again Aaron/fivetodrive!

Watch it close... I was looking at mine last night and thought it was my injector leaking but it is the connector to my gauge that looks exactly like yours. Watch it and just use it for verifying your static pressure.

I'll definitely be keeping an eye on it to make sure it doesn't loosen itself up. Thanks for the tip.

Loosening isn't the issue. Cracking and breaking off is.

Be careful. I had my 2008 Mini Cooper go up in flames in front of me due to a fuel leak (I think). I was lucky to only have lost eyebrows, arm hair and some minor burns.

KYS10, I would suggest adding a hose and moving that gauge off the rail, over time, it will crack the rail and leak and possible fire.

I appreciate the input and concern. I read a bunch of threads concerning this subject before I mounted it on the rail. I read a ton of claims that a 1.5 in gauge shouldn't be mounted on the rail, but I couldn't find anyone who had actually had issues with a 1.5 in gauge cracking a rail. To the contrary, I found a lot of people claiming to have had this exact setup for anywhere from 5-10+ years without issue. I really do appreciate the concern and I'm not trying to come off as some arrogant know it all. But from everything I've read about others experiences, I feel pretty confident that this shouldn't cause any problems.

Bolted my 2.5 cowl hood on from champion fiberglass. Fit was pretty good with what it looks minimal prep work for paint. My 2nd hood from them. Looks just like a cervini but a lot cheaper! $395 shipped! Next will be wiper removal and installation of a carbon fiber cowl panel from feathercarbon. Should be here at end of the week!

Warmed it up and drove around the neighborhood before putting it back in the garage before the snow came. Winter sucks.....

Put on torque strap and replaced upper rad hose. Built up a little boost from a dead stop and it worked like a charm. Thanks Mr.west
