Forged 4.3 feeler thread

I have a 4.3 that has been sitting on a stand bagged up for a little while now. I am selling it and going with a lsx swap in my truck.
It's a 2002 block. .30 over. SRP forged pistons compression is 9:1 Eagle rods. ARP mains ARP rod bolts. Stock crank for 02. Melling high volume pump. file fit total seal rings. Heads are "stage 3" fully ported with 202/160 valves with the appropriate springs. There is No cam installed in the engine due to undecided if i was going with a blower or turbo. Included is a double roller timing set. 1.6 comp roller rockers. comp pushrods "stock length" comp roller lifters. I have a brand new Marine intake all packaged up I intended on using with the build that can be included. I know when I had this built I kicked down just short of 6k for the whole build. I know I probably got ripped off... in fact I know I did.

With that being said.. I think asking 2500 for everything is a fair number.. The engine is located in Chicago IL. I am in nevada but it can be arranged for anyone to look at it in person. It has never been started. It has been bagged oiled and turned over every other week since completion.

I want to sell this as a long block ready to go. Your application not mine I know if you want to use the sy ty intake you have to mod the intake to make it work. I have the option of including the marine intake or for an additional cost a 2114 intake with the fittings for the injectors welded in as well as rails It was listed previously on it's own.

This is doing no good sitting on an engine stand please make reasonable offers

Greatly appreciated.

Re: Forged 4.3 feeler thread

once again, i think it's a really good price. the only downfall could be that somebody is going to install this engine alot of miles away and it might be bad. but on the otherhand as what you paid for it, it should be pretty ready to go.
did they done anything to the crank? oilports? etc.
i kinda want it. but shipping would be ****ed up

Re: Forged 4.3 feeler thread

2002 oil pan rail and bolt pattern is different. Not sure what has to be done to make a SyTy pan fit.
2002 is a balance shaft engine. Uses different cam, timing set, and timing cover. May be some argument that the block is weaker. My be interference problems with balance shaft and lower intake manifold.

Beware the 2000-up engine block as a replacement for a 97-down. Do your homework.

it's different but he has a welded on bung for the turbo.
the block being more weak. i don't know but they make a lot of more power n/a. so it's a give or take.

The motor was meant for a 2wd truck. The oil pan I have for it and the coated parts are here in las vegas. The actual long block is still in Illinois. I will link you to the mess of pictures I had my sister take. It is a Cryotreated crank and the mains use ARP hardware as well as the rods and head bolts. No expense was spared there. As far as being weaker. This engines cheaper brother with less head work with a procharger has taken a 2wd s10' extended cab down into the 10's without much effort and 14 psi of boost.

As far as weakness goes. I think you have to beat on something awful hard to break it.
I am not trying to sell a 7 second drag motor. I am trying to save someone some cash that wants a motor instead of throwing a bag back on this and letting it sit.

Please keep all negative comments to yourself. In a time when money is tight I don't think anyone needs someone shooting down their sales.

Here is the link to the pictures of the long block. Again please remember any coated parts are not in this picture this is just how the engine was wrapped up in plastic at the time. All the good stuff is still boxed up here.

No one is hiding anything. YES indeed it is diffrent but GM did not reverse engineer anything when the 4.3 grew older. Strength of an engine is based on the engine builder the tuner and the end user.

Do all the homework needed by no means is anything being kept under wraps The timing set and cover are included.

A fitting has been welded in for turbo oil return. I also have a matching set of pulleys and brackets for the 02 blazer pulleys powdercoated black brackets alum color. I have a brand new Marine intake all packaged up I intended on using with the build that can be included.

Just from a SyTy owners perspective to install a late Vortec. The 2wd Oil pan needs to replaced with a 4wd unit, brackets & pulley are useless, marine intake not needed, the head will need to come off to be redrilled for the earlier intake bolt pattern.

Its easier to modify the Late model Oil pan than adapt the SyTy to the newer block. The balance shaft does not interfere with the SyTy lower intake.

I personally wouldn't waste my time with a sy ty manifold. The marine one if ported will flow just as well if not better if ported. That's a big reason why I never tried using a sy ty intake on my other truck. Simply easier to use a marine intake there is another guy here on the forum that uses it in conjuncton with the manifolds with a stock engine stock turbo and runs really well.

Don't knock it if you haven't tried it.

I am not knocking it. I do agree it has some advantages and could be a better solution for 4.3 converting to turbo, but for a SyTy owner the stock manifold is a much easier to bolt on. The fuel rail, intercooler, sensor brackets, coolant lines, wiring harness, throttle and transmission cable are things that don't need to be played with.

Re: Forged 4.3 feeler thread

Take this thread to the top I am in Illinois for a short bit and am willing to deliver anywhere between Chicago and Las Vegas if someone is interested and I also have a set of sy ty coated manifolds if anyone is looking to get in on a set to go with the engine

Re: Forged 4.3 feeler thread

Quick question, what kind of double roller set are you using on this motor? I thought there wasn't a true double roller for the Vortecs?

BTW, to anyone considering going this route, the oil pan modification is ridiculously simple. Drill, tap, install fitting, done.

Here's the way I did mine, there's plenty of s10 guys doing it this way with no problems.

Re: Forged 4.3 feeler thread

Thanks for the bump. I ended up putting a tap in the front of my pan since I am 2wd and it's right near the front so pretty short return line.

I hope someone can put good use to it since I am trying to finish up my ls6 setup.
